Don't ever consider moving to the Seattle area unless you like the mental abuse of dealing with passive aggressive people
"Passive aggressive" is listed as a personality disorder yet I shit you not there are professional and educated people who walk around the Seattle area thinking that this behavior is perfectly normal and healthy.

If you live in a housing development you can expect at least a few people on your street will be passive aggressive. If you live in an apartment or condo complex you can expect to have several passive aggressive neighbors. If you work at a medium to large company you can expect at least a few of your immediate supervisors to be passive aggressive. I am not talking about just displaying some passive aggressive behaviors either. I am talking about bat shit crazy chronic and unapologetic passive aggressive personality disorders. Full blown.

Passive aggressive disorders are not unique to the Seattle area of course as these people are all over the world. However for whatever reason Seattle has a dense concentration of these creatures.

Example: I lived in a condo complex up until last year. People would share an elevator with you and act like they are friendly with you. They smile and wave and make polite chit chat. But then a week later you will get a complaint letter from the management about an incident with that very same person. One time my housemate dripped tea from our front door to the elevator. The next door neighbor send a letter claiming that we had taken out our garbage and liquid was leaking out all over the place. The management took it as fact and did not even ask for an explanation from us. We were simply warned via the letter that we would be fined $100 if it ever happened again.

I currently rent a house on a 10 acre property which has 3 rental properties in total. I was watching a friend's dog and he saw their pond and ran over and jumped in for a few seconds and then came running back to me. The woman who lives in that house returned home to see me on her rental property next to the pond. She stopped and talked to me with a huge smile on her face as if she is enjoying watching a dog cool off on a hot day. She seemed completely fine with the situation. A few days later I am called to a meeting with my landlord and he lets me know I have to now keep all dogs on leash 100% of the time and to never set food on their rental property. Why could this woman or her husband simply walk 50 yards, knock on my door, and ask me politely to use a leash and to not come onto their property? Of course they had to act like everything was perfectly fine and then turn right around and make a complaint about me. Keep in mind these are successful professional types.

Anyone else agree that Seattle and surrounding areas have and epidemic problem of passive aggressive behaviors?

Oh I do often confront people and let the know they have a personality disorder but some of them think it is perfectly normal. I cannot say this to my neighbors because I do not want my landlord to decide to not renew my lease. Otherwise I would be giving these people a mouthful that is for certain.

solution is to shit in a burger king bag, set it on fire on their porch when they are home, and ring the door bell, then hide and try not to laugh too hard!

That's the classic response from the 7-11 workers and the people who live here in huston texas.

Sounds like all idiot gang stalkers and cult members, who think they are, for some reason, so different from everyone else.

Even when it is exactly the opposite of what their so-called religion teaches them. Then they prance around thinking they are some fucking acolytes and role-models who are going to save everybody whether they like it or not.

Stupid.

So your housemate spilled tea in the hallway and you are upset because management sent you a reminder?

Should they have just waited until another tenant slipped and fell in the puddle of tea?

What's next? Your going to come back here complaining that you were driving around with your roommate speeding and upset about the police officer's "passive aggressive" behaviour (i.e., giving your dumbass a speeding ticket).

Good one, buddy!

the tea that was spilled was actually on an outside walkway leading up to the elevator. My point was the person could have simply called or knocked on our door and said something instead of writing a letter and assuming it was a from a leaky garbage bag.

I live in the Seattle area and don't know if this behavior is limited to this area. We are indoctrinated to have someone else resolve our problems for us.Usually someone that is a sort of authority figure such as the landlord.I used to work as a dispatcher and was totally blown away at the calls I received requesting the cops help for all sorts of things that the caller should have resolved on his/her own. Resourcefulness and common sense seem to be a thing of the past.

They were drops of tea and dried up right away with no stain My housemate did not even notice it when she was walkout out with the thermos of tea in her hand. This resulted in getting a long letter accusing us of leaking garbage all over the place and a threat of a $100 fine. If you think this is normal than perhaps you should move to Seattle because you will fit right in.

Liberalism. Sometimes equals dependence on authority figures and takes no self responsibility.

These people described are "afraid" of speaking truth or confrontations - so they USE GOVERNMENT/Authority to do it for them. PROXY power.

In cities you cannot SAY anything to anyone anymore-and are constantly reminded to not respond to others behavior.

But the minute a dog is in a car or a kid is having a tantrum - the police are called...

If TSHTF - they will be the first to DIE.

Just think that while they are smiling to your face OP.

Yes I worked on the Amazon campus (not for Amazon but for one of their vendors) and people would call the police or security the moment they saw a dog in a car inside the parking garage on a cool day. Those cars were almost always there for just a short time but even if they were there all day the dog probably preferred it to sitting at home all day.

Re: Don't ever consider moving to the Seattle area unless you like the mental abuse of dealing with passive aggressive people
I am bugged by people who have no sense of the fact that they are sharing the world and should be respectful of other people.

for instance, I live in a house on a quiet street. Plenty of parking space for the people who leave here. BUT assholes from surrounding neighborhoods will come park their car smack in front of my house or my neighbors and leave it for days. Or decide it is their new favorite spot and park there day after day. Hello? Do you live here? It displaces everyone who comes home after work to no place to park! What? I dont live in NYC. I know technically the street is owned by the city but I would never go put my car in a neighborhood not mine and leave my car in someones space. To me that is weird and rude behavior. Even to leave it and go away for a week! cmon, I live in that house you just parked at. where am I supposed to park? In front of your house? I am not talking about normal things like a person is visiting someone and parks in front of my house, I dont care. I enjoy my neighborhood and we all are respectful and friendly to each other.

ok. obviously I am annoyed by the parking thing. But I suspect you are this kind of person who would be surprised that I am annoyed by you when you do this type of thing. This is your personality. You make a mile of traffic stop and wait while you parallel park and are oblivious that someone may be in a hurry to go to work or something. You talk loud on your cell phone in a cafe or public place as if you are in your living room and it interferes with people having a conversation or thought of their own. You impose your love of rap music on everyone. etc..you get the idea,You live in your own world where you are king and can disregard everyone around you.

playing devils advocate here. There ARE some passive aggressive twats around Seattle.
