The victim probably was unaware what he was saying was being recorded, or could be picked up. He doesn't cuss, he isn't disrespectful to the cop. Just shocked he was shot for no
reason.

The cop is lucky nobody else was hit. There could have been children in the vehicle.

Usually people pull their license out of their wallet, they don't turn from the cop and go digging for it in their car seat.

I can understand how a cop in high alert mode could think he was going in his car to grab a gun.

Is the cop at fault in this scenario? Yeah, he was quick to judge but I feel the cop's action is within reason.

Seriously, I mean come on. The guy reached for his wallet you can clearly see him reach around with his right hand, oops its in my front seat spins around leans in to grab it BANG BANG GET OUT OF THE CAR BANG GET ON THE THE GROUND. I couldn't believe what I just seen.

I understand the officer might have thought he was diving back in the car to get a gun and felt his life was at risk.

I have a serious question! Why do cops feel so threatened by you getting out of your vehicle when pulled over.

I was pulled over once new the State Trooper vehicle so I got out but it was a newbie being trained by my friend whom was in the passenger seat. The newbie SHOUTING GET BACK IN THE CAR RETURN TO YOUR VEHICLE WITH HAND ON GUN. So I got back in the car and waited for him to approach the window.

Unbelievably tragic!

The cop is an idiot. Did he really assume that the guy had his ID on him? That he wouldn't need to get it from his car? I would have done the same, to get my ID out of the car. He should have first asked, "where is your ID", that way the guy could tell him. Not only that but the guy had his hands up after the first shots, and he did not have a weapon, so why did he keep shooting?

well, at least porky has been charged. Probably wont stick, but its a step in the right direction. smh

Can't believe this one. What's the cop's philosophy... shoot first ask questions later? There have been times that my license was on my seat or floor. I don't keep my wallet in my pants when I'm driving. I wonder if there were suspicions based on race. Hope that guy sues and wins.

Last time I was pulled over the cop walked up to the car, looked at me and immediately said:
"You got a problem with me boy?"

Since I was in the middle of nowhere and figured he was going to kill me for no reason what-so-ever, when he asked for my ID I actually said:
"I'm going to reach for my license now. Is that ok?"

It actually calmed him down a bit and he didn't answer for a few seconds.

There is nothing "reasonable" about shooting an unarmed person who is not attacking you. Did the officer have reason to be concerned for his own safety? Of course. He drew his weapon and pointed it at the driver. He was ready for a confrontation if one was coming, but shooting was not called for.

Why do so many cops value their own lives more than the people who they were hired to serve? Why are so many cops willing to hurt and kill other people if they feel threatened? What did they think they would feel when they took the job?

Good judgement and courage are required to be a good police officer and this officer crossed the line by shooting when it was not required.

I got a ticket some years ago in Texas. I signed it, and even as a refex said thank you when he handed it to me. I am 5'4, female with glasses. I weighed 125.

He thanked me for cooperating. I guess that was nice of him, but what the hell was he expecting?

As I drove away it occurred to me he probably has to put up with a lot of crap.
