Ahh......... except I know more than you. I did that job for over 20 years. I have experienced far more than a single man reaching into his vehicle to retrieve his license and I never shot at anyone. Came close a few times with ARMED suspects.

Good judgement and courage. Nothing is more important than those things if you want to be a good police officer.

An unjustified police shooting is not a topic that should be misunderstood. These words triggered my response to you "put a bullet in the cops head"

I know why I am in the forum and I know who I am speaking to when I post my comments. Like right now...... who am I really speaking to as I respond to you?

If you have knowledge about the thread topic, have you posted it? If you only came to show me up and claim to be more knowing than I, I find that to be entertaining.

Usually people pull their license out of their wallet, they don't turn from the cop and go digging for it in their car seat.

I can understand how a cop in high alert mode could think he was going in his car to grab a gun.

Is the cop at fault in this scenario? Yeah, he was quick to judge but I feel the cop's action is within reason.

Wow! Another out of fucking control cop, HUMMMMMMMMM.
The officer in the vid looked really young. I wonder if he is a PTSD vet returning from a war zone employed to "serve" before his much needed intensive therapy sessions????? Given a gun and sworn in to protect...
Sees all citizens as the enemy, rather than the citizens he was sworn to protect?

Kind of surprised that Sharpton and Jackson are not rioting over this one!!!

So what are you supposed to do if you keep your shit in the glove compartment or the divide between the seats? Tell the cop to go in and get it becuase he's going to be so terrified otherwise that you're reaching for something? Many of these stops are UNNECESSARY anyway and unless you're looking for someone who committed a crime (license plate) or someone in an accident, or screeching down the road at 100 mph, most of the stops are UNNECESSARY and are about issuing ticks and making REVENUE. Why should ordinary citizens get shot so some town can make a buck through these terrified officers? Obviously someone like this should NEVER be a police officer as he's just too cowardly.

Exactly. I keep mine in my purse usually on the next seat or passenger floor (yes, I'm a woman, not a gay guy), and my hubby frequently puts his wallet in the glove compartment or the center divide.

We were stopped once by a cop in a small town around here (Mass.) because we missed a very poorly placed detour sign (thing was almost hidden). It was around 9pm, cop was EXTREMELY nasty for a very innocent (and obvious) mistake, and I was afraid we were both going to get shot just because he was in such a foul mood and very confrontational, and we are both quiet, middle aged people. Such assholes on the police force now.

The cop should have called the vehicle tag in before exiting his own vehicle. Or he should have told the nice citizen to place his hands behind his head and drop to his knees in place, cuff him than figured it out.

Gee, maybe if he followed the scaredy pants protocol of calling in the tag to see if he needed to actually piss his pants when confronting this particular driver instead of the psychopath one of shooting an innocent man he would not be in this situation.

A reasonable compensation would be for the court to give the man one free shot at the cop from the same distance. After he's fully recovered, and if he doesn't, then the widow takes the shot. That might make other cops think twice.

I'm usually defending the cops on here, because a lot of you are just stupid, but this one is pretty bad. Not much you can defend on this. When people get pulled over, they are usually nervous, whether they are guilty of anything or not. You have to give the driver some leeway of irrational behavior. He just plain capped him the minute he reached into his car.

The bad thing about this? The black ghetto culture has brought all this down on themselves and this innocent guy gets shot because of it. I'm sure there is a 50% chance that when someone dives into their car like that, he could be reaching for a gun. It's a sad situation.

U N N E C E S S A R Y.

Unless you are looking for a criminal through the license plate, or someone fleeing an accident, or going 100 mph, there is NO REASON to be stopping most people. Cops do it to justify their jobs, they're probably bored much of the time, or because they are actually REVENUE collectors for their towns/districts, and they're supposed to run up the tickets to make money. That's what most of these stops come down to....tickets to make money.

Cops should RARELY stop anyone unless there is an obvious crime that has been committed, or about to be committed. Anything else is unnecessary and dangerous, especially with these timid and poorly trained cops.

We need to get back into the frame of mind that transporting ourselves - DRIVING - is a RIGHT. Not a "privilege" which is what the liberal establishment has been telling us for decades and which most people have been brainwashed into believeing. Unless you have or are about to committ a violent crime, DRIVING IS A RIGHT, and cops should not be bothering you. We have far too many police anyway, and far too many prisons for "crimes" that are just tax raising schemes.

Well, you have a lot of sense, but you can't say that sense is something that is widespread in America. People shouldn't be shot or killed because they don't know what to do when they're stopped. The cop should direct them correctly and realize that people don't expect to be pulled over - NOR SHOULD THEY MOST OF THE TIME, MOST OF THE STOPS ARE UNNECESSARY - and just don't consider what to do. They're caught by surprise.

Cops are very paranoid these days. When you get pulled over:
1.lower all windows.
2.Keep hands on the wheel.
3.Wait for instructions.
4.Notify or ask that you're going into glove box, etc.
5.If it's dark out, then repeat #1 and turn overhead light on.

Never assume that a cop is reading you're mind.

Re: COP ASKS MAN FOR LICENSE, SHOOTS HIM WHEN HE GOES TO GET IT
man...that cop is a terrible shot. i mean he was right there infront of him. did he forget how to point?

quite the over-reaction for a seatbelt violation. there needs to be some recourse here on the cops part.

i do see where the man could have said "let me reach in and get my wallet, its right in my car", but i understand being nervous and just reaching for it.

Re: COP ASKS MAN FOR LICENSE, SHOOTS HIM WHEN HE GOES TO GET IT
Usually people pull their license out of their wallet, they don't turn from the cop and go digging for it in their car seat.

I can understand how a cop in high alert mode could think he was going in his car to grab a gun.

Is the cop at fault in this scenario? Yeah, he was quick to judge but I feel the cop's action is within reason.

Wrong.

My wallet would be in the car, so I would have had to "dive" back into my car to retrieve it.

I'm normal and have seen others do the same.

Ha......... so you have judged me as being less discerning than you? And you base that I my use of tact with him? I don't mind you thinking that you are wiser and more knowing than I.

I know why I am in the forum and I know who I am speaking to when I post my comments. Like right now...... who am I really speaking to as I respond to you?

If you have knowledge about the thread topic, have you posted it?
If you only came to show me up and claim to be more knowing than I, I find that to be entertaining.

Hmmm........ still thinking about me, are you? It seems that I have become the center of your universe. Perhaps you will dream about me as well?

As for you....... I have no desire to "search your a/c number". You have arrived to entertain me and I appreciate it, but I can't say that you are a person who I will even think about unless you make me laugh again.

ummm... you asked me a question. then you are puzzled i replied? cuckoo cuckoo cuckoo cuckoo

This thing that you have going with me......... it really seems to be an issue with you that you think that you know more than I know. I'm fine with whatever you want to think, even if good thinking eludes you.

I asked you if you posted any information. Your response was for me to search for YOU, but I don't care about you. It was a question like "how are you today"? Nobody really cares. They are just being polite.

So........... how are you doing today?
