I keep mine in my purse usually on the next seat or passenger floor (yes, I'm a woman, not a gay guy), and my hubby frequently puts his wallet in the glove compartment or the center divide. We were stopped once by a cop in a small town around here (Mass.) because we missed a very poorly placed detour sign (thing was almost hidden). It was around 9pm, cop was EXTREMELY nasty for a very innocent (and obvious) mistake, and I was afraid we were both going to get shot just because he was in such a foul mood and very confrontational, and we are both quiet, middle aged people. Not much you can defend on this. When people get pulled over, they are usually nervous, whether they are guilty of anything or not. You have to give the driver some leeway of irrational behavior. He just plain capped him the minute he reached into his car. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57470216 The bad thing about this? The black ghetto culture has brought all this down on themselves and this innocent guy gets shot because of it. I'm sure there is a 50% chance that when someone dives into their car like that, he could be reaching for a gun. It's a sad situation. Wrong and REALLY wrong. |

U N N E C E S S A R Y. Unless you are looking for a criminal through the license plate, or someone fleeing an accident, or going 100 mph, there is NO REASON to be stopping most people. Cops do it to justify their jobs, they're probably bored much of the time, or because they are actually REVENUE collectors for their towns/districts, and they're supposed to run up the tickets to make money. That's what most of these stops come down to....tickets to make money. Cops should RARELY stop anyone unless there is an obvious crime that has been committed, or about to be committed. Anything else is unnecessary and dangerous, especially with these timid and poorly trained cops. We need to get back into the frame of mind that transporting ourselves - DRIVING - is a RIGHT. Not a "privilege" which is what the liberal establishment has been telling us for decades and which most people have been brainwashed into believeing. Unless you have or are about to committ a violent crime, DRIVING IS A RIGHT, and cops should not be bothering you. We have far too many police anyway, and far too many prisons for "crimes" that are just tax raising schemes. |

Well, you have a lot of sense, but you can't say that sense is something that is widespread in America. People shouldn't be shot or killed because they don't know what to do when they're stopped. The cop should direct them correctly and realize that people don't expect to be pulled over - NOR SHOULD THEY MOST OF THE TIME, MOST OF THE STOPS ARE UNNECESSARY - and just don't consider what to do.
