man...that cop is a terrible shot. i mean he was right there infront of him. did he forget how to point?

quite the over-reaction for a seatbelt violation. there needs to be some recourse here on the cops part.

i do see where the man could have said "let me reach in and get my wallet, its right in my car", but i understand being nervous and just reaching for it.

click it or get hit.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18989740

Even worse, the guy said he had his seat belt on and just took it off, you know to get out of the car.

Re: COP ASKS MAN FOR LICENSE, SHOOTS HIM WHEN HE GOES TO GET IT
Again...I want to make the point that many, if not most, of these stops are...

U N N E C E S S A R Y.

Unless you are looking for a criminal through the license plate, or someone fleeing an accident, or going 100 mph, there is NO REASON to be stopping most people. Cops do it to justify their jobs, they're probably bored much of the time, or because they are actually REVENUE collectors for their towns/districts, and they're supposed to run up the tickets to make money. That's what most of these stops come down to....tickets to make money.

Cops should RARELY stop anyone unless there is an obvious crime that has been committed, or about to be committed. Anything else is unnecessary and dangerous, especially with these timid and poorly trained cops.

We need to get back into the frame of mind that transporting ourselves - DRIVING - is a RIGHT. Not a "privilege" which is what the liberal establishment has been telling us for decades and which most people have been brainwashed into believeing. Unless you have or are about to committ a violent crime, DRIVING IS A RIGHT, and cops should not be bothering you. We have far too many police anyway, and far too many prisons for "crimes" that are just tax raising schemes.
 Quoting: mehitable 1524722

True.

Heads up tho; east coast they are pulling peeps over for barely speeding to hand out terrorism pamphlets personally. Just FYI.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 63152958

Thanks for the heads up! How creepy! And totally inappropriate, especially with a wide open border. Maybe if they tried arresting the many illegals who are driving THAT would mean something but it's just about pulling people over, trying to run up violations like the seat belt, and ticketing for revenue, or even nowadays - just to harass the public and keep people scared ("Papers please"). Wonder more of these cops DON'T get shot.

Cops are very paranoid these days. When you get pulled over:
1.lower all windows.
2.Keep hands on the wheel.
3.Wait for instructions.
4.Notify or ask that you're going into glove box, etc.
5.If it's dark out, then repeat #1 and turn overhead light on.

Never assume that a cop is reading you're mind.

Usually people pull their license out of their wallet, they don't turn from the cop and go digging for it in their car seat.

I can understand how a cop in high alert mode could think he was going in his car to grab a gun.

Is the cop at fault in this scenario? Yeah, he was quick to judge but I feel the cop's action is within reason.

Notice how he shoots at the guy again after he has his hands up.

There was another case recently where it was claimed a cop did that, shot at a guy who had his hands up, and some people refuse to believe it could have happened ...

Not to defend the officer, but the guy should not have reached back into the car, that's a big no-no -- he could have been reaching for a gun for all the officer knew.

The cop would have been justified in shooting him right then, but not after it was obvious that he hadn't reached for a gun -- and not with his hands in the air.

Good firing, but the criminal charges need to be dropped.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty,
the tranquility of servitude
better than the animating contest of freedom,
go home from us in peace.
We ask not your counsels or your arms.
Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you.
May your chains set lightly upon you,
and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

As a white person
I can say this is DISGUSTING!!!!!

Im sorry to all the colored people who are inncoent victims of RACE and HATE CRIMES against them by Anyone!
What is clear is the american police system is rather a gestapo .. Worsr rven as the gestapo asked for "papers please" and hopefully waited till the person got them without a barrage of bullets ..
Question is? Why is a fully trained police officer w a Gun , tazer, club and prob rifle .. Afraid?
Why is he ShOOTING backwards ay someone at a GAS STATION???
Is this cop SO AFRaIF he forgets one spark can blow them all into their next lifetime? Incluong everyone else in the store or at the gas pump??????????

My heart goes out to both of them.

The Police man for being so anxious and suspicious and for the lad in the car for being so obliging in getting his licence in such a prompt manner.

Why are Americans so....intolerant of each other?

Who teaches you to be like this?

So what if he took his belt off a second before he got to the petrol station...is it really worth arresting someone for?

If this is American people I never want to go there.....

He didn't even give the victim any verbal commands to "freeze" or "stop" before firing. He never saw a gun. He still fired more rounds when the already hit victim was raising his hands. I mean really, there is no excuse.

If the citizen had died, the cop would have gotten off scot-free with: "he followed procedure" BS. "My life was in danger"; "I thought he was going for a gun"; "failed to obey my orders", or any other BS story LE could come up with. That cop is a menace to society. Most young cops today are ex-military trained killers & they view citizens as the "enemy" out to kill them. And that, my friends, is exactly how big brother government police state wants it.
