We've always been taught to let the officer know you are reaching for your license before you actually do it.

In this case the officer is a complete moron for demanding a drivers license in this manner.

First you tell us that you were taught to tell the officer what you going to do. Did the driver do what you were taught?

And then you call the officer a moron, when the driver never did what you were taught.

Using your logic, shouldn't the driver be the moron for not doing what you were taught?

Honestly it looks like this cop was a bad aim or just wasn't following training. When the guy starts walking back to his car *not* responding to commands he should have had his gun out ready to drop this guy as soon as he saw the gun.

It is very different from OP post, where the cop *asks* the guy for his license and the guy does. OP vid was someone following commands, yours he was not.

You can Monday morning quarterback every cop in every video if you like, but that does not change the reality that police work is dangerous at times and good judgement is always required if officers are to serve their communities well and stay alive in the process.

Perhaps the SC trooper recently saw the video of the Montana trooper being killed during a training class and that was on his mind.

I don't find the SC trooper to be a bad person based on that short video, but I do find him to be badly trained and he used poor judgement.

I have seen plenty of videos of BAD cops doing BAD things and they can thank their lucky stars that I was not around when it was happening, but the SC trooper is not a BAD guy from what little I saw in that video.

In Massachusetts, it's always, "License and registration, please" and we always reach across to out glove compartment either before the cop comes to the window, so we're ready, or when he's asking us---because our registrations are in the glove compartment.

According to this NC trooper, everyone in Massachusetts pulled over should be shot now.
