2nd hand contact inside hospital - for what it's worth...

While I was here posting the above, he replied with this:

I am so upset over this. I have tried to give Obama the benefit of the doubt but NEVER AGAIN!!! He is supposed to protect us. He failed!

Sorry for my rant we are all very upset over this. He and his coworkers are being screened for the virus. They are also trying to quarantine and staff that treated him.

I just sent him the following:

Oh, don't worry about the rant. I do that myself frequently... most of the time falling on deaf ears.

and:

Do they say he'll be released immediately (obviously after a 'negative' test result) or are they saying after an incubation period of 20 some-odd days? Surely they wouldn't keep people there that long, would they?!

Again, I'd like to reiterate, I do not know this guy or his family member. We're just members of the same semi-local news/scanner group.

I keep going back every few minutes to see if he"s responded, but nothing yet. I'll share when/if he does.

I'd also like to share that this group is not made up of GLP conspiracy type people (at least that they share on the group, lol. Who knows if they are privately or not). They're mostly country people with an interest in local news and scanner stuff.

"Dallas Fire-Rescue told News 8 that the paramedics who treated the man put on gloves and a mask after the patient exhibited possible signs of a communicable disease.

"The patient did exhibit high fever, nausea, vomiting, GI issues, along those lines," said Assistant Chief Norman Seals.

Those three Dallas paramedics are under observation for at least three weeks. That's the maximum amount of time, the CDC said, for Ebola symptoms to develop."

No proof. It is what it is. 2nd hand information that I'm passing along.

I'm sharing in the hope that if we all share the bits and pieces we get, we might be able to put some of it together and arrive at truth. Just doing my part to that end.

I wonder if the CDC is going to require testing of the staff that had contact with that patient. Could be the prudent thing to do.

My 2 daughters and their children are in the Dallas area as well.

Yes, it would be prudent... And at the same time, how absolutely terrifying for a worker at the hospital that had the bad luck to have eaten lunch in the break room at the same time as someone else who was handed a clipboard by the nurse or doctor who had just seen the patient. I feel so sorry for anyone caught up in this.

I do not know yet. He is waiting to find out. I am afraid he will be held there for 21 days.

Would that mean the whole hospital is on lockdown?

Are regular patients allowed visitors in and out?

That would probably mean no ambulances going in and out and probably police or military presence around the hospital. Any info on stuff like that?

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry! I will redouble prayers, and others will be praying as well. If you and his dad decide to try to go get him, PLEASE be very careful. I have such a bad feeling that this thing is going to get bad. Ebola is bad enough, but the panic could make it 1000 times worse.

It just occurred to me that the fact that he's able to communicate with family might be a good sign. If the whole place was on lockdown, for instance, they would take everyone's phones and not allow communication out.

Mom, they would jam everything, electronically. Trust me on that one.

... something like that, like they are cheerfully at summer camp

This was reported on a few of our local (DFW) news stations. Basically saying several members of ER & hospital staff were essentially in "quarantine" or being monitored.

Actually a nurse stated that patients who are mentally capable are free to be admitted or discharged at their own discretion and that no one is being kept against their will..

Somebody could call the Hospital Security number and say

"Hey I'm the pizza guy. I'm trying to get six pizzas into those employees you got quarantined. One guys mom already paid for the pizzas. Which door do I come in?"

And see what kind of response you get

record the audio and video of you calling hospital and post it up and to the original poster you should screen shot your phone hold the power button and volume down at the same time
