While I was here posting the above, he replied with this:

I am so upset over this. I have tried to give Obama the benefit of the doubt but NEVER AGAIN!!! He is supposed to protect us. He failed!

and then:

Sorry for my rant we are all very upset over this. He and his coworkers are being screened for the virus. They are also trying to quarantine and staff that treated him.

BTW, your previous posts mention 'Obummer', which may be an indication this nonsense didn't, in fact, come from a drunk uncle, but from another goofy source for Texas Sized

Archery Mom...I believe that you are sincere in your
report. Would you do me a huge favor? Please
watch this video. (The narrator has been accused
of "exaggerating" in by-gone videos--so I don't
know if this is accurate or not!

[link to www.youtube.com]
Narrator is reporting that "school children
may have taken the virus to their local
school"--Perry announced the patient ZERO
had contact with 5 children who are now in
V.O.D.S. "Voluntary Observation Dorm Schedule"
and it sounds pretty serious.
Do you have ANY LOCAL INFO on this?
Thanks so much (I have family there with kids!)

Thank you for your kind words, Cookie.

I watched the video and my initial reaction is that the guy was accurate in his reporting about the schools. I've read elsewhere today that up to five children were exposed and those 5 children attend four different schools. I did also read that they had attended school since the exposure. Not sure where because I've read so many articles and threads today.

I'm several hours away from Dallas myself, so I don't know any teachers there. I know a few here, but I doubt that would help much. You never know, though. I can call my local friend and see if she's heard anything.

I keep hearing 21 day incubation. Is that the norm or do most present symptoms before 21 days. This patient, if the story is true, became ill 5-7 days after exposure.
 Quoting: ella

21 days is the limit they put on symptom development. If by 21 days you have not developed symptoms after exposure...they assume you won't ever get the virus.
 Quoting: Chip

Interesting. Not ever.... or just for this instance of exposure? And do you know of any studies on anything in common among those who have definitely been exposed and didn't get sick?
 Quoting: archery mom

I don't know of any studies. This is the first I have read about symptoms showing within 5 days of exposure. If this is true, what if one knows they are sick at 5days, but still have 15 days to travel to the US or Europe hoping to obtain intensive care in hospital?
Now this would be truly frightening

Somebody could call the Hospital Security number and say

"Hey I'm the pizza guy. I'm trying to get six pizzas into those employees you got quarantined. One guys mom already paid for the pizzas. Which door do I come in?"

And see what kind of response you get
 Quoting: goodmockingbird

I just called the hospital and they said no surgeries are delayed. They told me to arrive 2 hours before surgery for admission...lol. I don't even live in Texas.

So I called up this hospital in Dallas and asked them the same thing - got transferred to the "command center" and asked them if it was still the hospital - they said it was. Asked again if surgeries were delayed, they said, no, they're business as usual.

Don't know what's going on here. A nurse said surgeries were delayed by 21 days, then the "command center" (I've never heard of anything like that in a hospital, for cripe's sake) says life is good (except for Ebola boy upstairs).
 Quoting: Cheyenne

So I called and they said everything is business as usual. As soon as I asked about surgeries being delayed, I was immediately transferred to this "command center" wherever that is located (Atlanta? or in the hospital itself?).

Cookie, I just got off the phone with my local schoolteacher friend. She didn't know anything about the Dallas schools, just the regular stuff here that pop up in schools everywhere: colds, strepthroat, etc. but nothing in any alarming numbers. No panicked or even curious calls from parents about ebola (she also said that she as a teacher wouldn't get those calls anyway).

Sorry I couldn't provide more than that.

Awesome info! I've been watching and reading this for the last 6 months, and I've gone from being worried, to being scared, to being pissed off!

There is NO way in hell our gov't should be letting flights from South Africa into North America right now!!!!! There is NO excuse for it!!!!!

My children's lives may be at stake because of this and that is NOT acceptable!!!!

I'll be calling and emailing these names,. addresses and numbers tomorrow absolutely!

Thanks again! Info VERY much appreciated!

No proof. It is what it is. 2nd hand information that I'm passing along.

I'm sharing in the hope that if we all share the bits and pieces we get, we might be able to put some of it together and arrive at truth. Just doing my part to that end.
 Quoting: archery mom

For what it's worth, I believe you are speaking absolute truth....

Prayers for everyone....

I live in Dallas so I selfishly include myself
 Quoting: Truthserum

praying for you too, truth serum
and here's some youtubes of a ministry that is like my 'home church'. been listening to him daily for several years. have had healings and prayed for many that have been healed.
brother curry has seen many raised from the dead and healed of hundreds of diseases.
when I heard 'ebola in dallas' I thought well, maybe his ministry in dallas was 'born for such a time as this'
here are 2 of my fav youtubes- this is part 1 in a 17pt series
[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 63090969

Too bad no one else besides brother curry has seen those "many" raised from the dead. Seriously, why don't faith healers hang out in hospitals? If he had such powers surely he'd be on his way to That hospital right now.

And just so you know, yes, God can do anything. Jesus had those healed go to the priests to verify His miracles, (i.e.: hostile witnesses, he didnt fear the scrutiny) but these characters seem allergic to examination and verification.

No offense against you, it's just that these characters want to claim that Jesus' followers will do greater works than He, but they never quite get better validation than He did...let alone any at all.

It wasn't me that mentioned Obama, it was the guy I was talking to. I included his entire statement.

This guy is scared and angry. If he wants to blame Obama and his policies, ok by me.

Besides, I don't think you'll find many in this neck of the woods who disagree with him.

If this weren't such a serious situation, your post would have been funny. As for my uncle? I've got several and fortunately they live many states away. I have no idea as to their states of intoxication because I don't regularly talk with any of them. If it makes you feel better, though, several of them plant vegetable gardens in the summertime.

I read report and saw chart that said 50% of those who get it - get it at 5.5 days. There was a graph that showed that it can show up before or after - up to and including 21 days.

As far as Dallas school news -- I am less than hr. from Dallas and so my main news is local Dallas news and it's not all pretty picture as some say -- They showed Mom on TV who was crying. I am sure the parents are very alarmed and afraid that their children have been exposed.

On a side note, I went to the Dollar Store to get a few things I may need if we are confined to home --- as could happen if this gets out of hand - and I spent over $300 on just a few things that I would want need:

clorox, hand wipes, clorox spray, hand sanitizer (the right/good kind), special soaps to counteract germs, soups, cookies, kleenex, fruits, fruit juices, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, distilled water, coke, pbj, etc., etc., etc.

No time like present. After all you will use the stuff anyway. If it status continues to decline will make another trip. Took me an hour just to unload the car. Another lady who was checking out just stood and stared at me with mouth agape and said she'd never seen that at a dollar store -- and me standing there with me gloves on looking like a freak probably.

I keep hearing 21 day incubation. Is that the norm or do most present symptoms before 21 days. This patient, if the story is true, became ill 5-7 days after exposure.

I really hope there doesn't come a time when those who laughed at the people they saw with gloves and masks on regret laughing and wish they had done the same.

Nope. Can't post the link (rooters) but Emory had to buy plastic bins to the waste in in because Stericycle wouldn't haul it off to begin with. 40 bags day/patient. If you do a search on Emory ebola waste you'll see the article.

^^^ THIS ^^^ I can confirm. FBI and DHS teams have interceptor/jammer gear that they can easily deploy within a building, or on a rooftop, which will "capture" all the cellphones within a selected distance (from about 100 yards up to a few city blocks) - it's actually a false cell site, so your phone still thinks it's connected, but anything you try to send as text or email goes right to their operators console for review, as well as the phone numbers you try to call.

They can put it in "pass through mode" where it allows you to make calls, send/receive texts, etc, but they get a copy of everything. This is frequently used for drug interdiction and other "sting" operations.

Whole setup is about the size of two suitcases, and a two-man team can deploy it in about 45 minutes.

YOU, and only YOU are responsible for maintaining the balance of power between you and the rest of the semi-sentient beings in this world. You cannot disclaim or delegate that responsibility; it is a function of being a living, breathing "adult" in this world. If you can't manage yourself on those terms, someone else *will* manage you on their terms. Your terms are irrelevant. Buy a rifle; prepare to defend yourself. If you don't, what happens is *your* fault. Period.

Ok, I live in a small town a couple hours from Dallas. I also belong to a web group of NE and E Texans who talk about primarily local news and scanner activity. One of the members (whom I do NOT know personally, just a fellow member of the group) posted about 15 hours ago the following (I'm keeping his name private, as he does not know I'm sharing this and I would not feel right including his name.):

I just found out my nephew, who is a nurse, is on lock down at Presby hospital in Dallas with the Ebola patient. Prayers would be greatly appreciated.

A few minutes ago, I PM'd him the following:

[Name], again, my prayers for your nephew and all others involved. Was wondering if you are in contact with him? Do you have any word of his safety? Precautions taken to keep him and any others there with him healthy? I don't know him or you, but am very worried for a fellow Texas caught up in this mess.

May God bless and be with your family.

His response, almost immediately:

He messaged me just a little while ago. They are being held at the Hospital. No one can leave or have personnel contact with any one out side. He says he is being very careful. I told him if things go south his father and I will come get him!

(Yes, I know the whole 'Uncle' thing, but at least it's some info)

The person states that if things "go south" he and the father will "come get him" . . .

This person intends on going and taking someone who has been exposed to ebola out of a lockdown facility?

And take him the hell WHERE??

I honestly think that when a person says something like this that they're not thinking that far ahead. They're thinking about a person they love being in danger and wanting to get them away from the danger. It doesn't register that the person they love may very well have become dangerous as well.

Re: 2nd hand contact inside hospital - for what it's worth...
Well I just phoned this hospital and they are saying that hospital is not and has not been on any kind of "lock-down", which is why I asked about any proof of your claims -- it's pretty odd.

It wouldn't be caled a lockdown

They'd make sound... Friendlier somehow, less like a quarantine

A Voluntary Observational Dorm Schedule

... something like that, like they are cheerfully at summer camp

That and privacy laws would prevent them from saying anyone is quarantined with getting that persons ok to day it publicly

Re: 2nd hand contact inside hospital - for what it's worth...
Just talked with my brother who lives on the east side of Dallas. He is ex-military ( 20 years ), big rough tough type of guy. Have never heard him sound worried until today when speaking with him. Him and his wife have 2 teen age kids they yanked out of school (kids did not argue) yesterday. Said they will not be going back to school no matter what, going to home school now.
He said his survival tactics have kicked in ( anyone should know what that means ). He said they have heard *lock down * being hushed for fear of panic, which i believe. Also said that there is more than one being held in Texas not being talked about or made public. Makes sense cause this guy was a walking factory of spreading it. I know my brother and when he sounds scared or worried then i know it is time to listen.
I do not expect any one to listen or pay attention but still putting the info out in hopes one or two may heed it. As far as the flag wavers here or the in breds who like to rile things up.. save it i will not respond. My family and friends mean more to me than arguing with you type of idiots. As for anyone else with brains please get any info out on this you can. We as a nation are all in this together.

I don't know if OP is right, but the hospital would lie to you anyway. All the authorities are going to LIE about this repeatedly. That's all they do.
