No proof. It is what it is. 2nd hand information that I'm passing along.

I'm sharing in the hope that if we all share the bits and pieces we get, we might be able to put some of it together and arrive at truth. Just doing my part to that end.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the blah, then to the Gentile. Somebody could call the Hospital Security number and say

And see what kind of response you get

Well I just phoned this hospital and they are saying that hospital is not and has not been on any kind of "lock-down", which is why I asked about any proof of your claims -- it's pretty odd.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 62823234

The hospital itself is not on lockdown...if it were the panic level would go through the roof.

This would be directed at anyone who had been exposed to this man in any way...obviously caregivers would be at the top of that list....

My reply:

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry! I will redouble prayers, and others will be praying as well. If you and his dad decide to try to go get him, PLEASE be very careful. I have such a bad feeling that this thing is going to get bad. Ebola is bad enough, but the panic could make it 1000 times worse.

Re: 2nd hand contact inside hospital - for what it's worth...
Ok, I live in a small town a couple hours from Dallas. I also belong to a web group of NE and E Texans who talk about primarily local news and scanner activity. One of the members (whom I do NOT know personally, just a fellow member of the group) posted about 15 hours ago the following (I'm keeping his name private, as he does not know I'm sharing this and I would not feel right including his name.):

I just found out my nephew, who is a nurse, is on lock down at Presby hospital in Dallas with the Ebola patient. Prayers would be greatly appreciated.

A few minutes ago, I PM'd him the following:

[Name], again, my prayers for your nephew and all others involved. Was wondering if you are in contact with him? Do you have any word of his safety? Precautions taken to keep him and any others there with him healthy? I don't know him or you, but am very worried for a fellow Texas caught up in this mess.

May God bless and be with your family.

His response, almost immediately:

He messaged me just a little while ago. They are being held at the Hospital. No one can leave or have personnel contact with any one out side. He says he is being very careful. I told him if things go south his father and I will come get him!

archery mom-
thank you for this rare and valuable thread.
hope the readers appreciate the value.
1. please please forward info that mega c doses make the immune system 'untenable' to this virus. I also read here that melatonin in doses of 20mg. can fight it and there have been scientific tests in this regard.
2. have been wanting to find such a web support community here in hawaii. any idea how to begin looking?
3. I'm praying for him.

It's a huge complex, they may have locked down the one wing or floor this guy is on, the rest of the hospital is still open in other buildings.

You seriously have to wonder about the CDC, this administration TPTB.

I mean...they are letting travel and flights in from this area.

However, they are quarantining people after they are here in the US that have already come into contact with someone that has Ebola - well - why not, stop the flights, and quarantine anyone prior to travel to the US, they have come into contact with people that have Ebola over there in that country as well!!??

The way they are doing this makes no sense.

He just said:

I hope it never comes to that.

Me:

It just occurred to me that the fact that he's able to communicate with family might be a good sign. If the whole place was on lockdown, for instance, they would take everyone's phones and not allow communication out.

Mom, they would jam everything, electronically. Trust me on that one.

All right, we got seven canisters of CN-20. I say we roll them in there and nerve gas the whole fucking nest.
That’s the thing about progress; all the word means is “continued movement in the same direction.” If the direction was a bad idea to start with, or if it’s passed the point at which it still made sense, continuing to trudge blindly onward into the gathering dark may not be the best idea in the world. Break out of that mental straitjacket, and the range of possible futures broadens out immeasurably.

Right. Super smart thing to do. Everyone around here has been criticizing Africans from fleeing quarantine and you have OP right in the USA that openly admits going to get him out....

As hard as it is to have him in there, can you see how important it is to the rest of us that he stay in quarantine?

I am telling you, if this gets out of hand Americans will panic just like the Africans....human nature.

Was getting caught up on another thread I'm following.

Nothing new from the guy in the scanner group.

Thanks very much for the prayers and well wishes. They are much appreciated and I add my own to them.

About the whole 'going to get him' statement. It was NOT ME who said that, but the guy I was chatting with. It's HIS family member there, not mine. My opinion on that statement is it's typical Texan Rambo talk. In reality, they'd not follow through on such a plan, but it makes them feel better to talk about it, which is about all they can do at this point.

I haven't heard anything, either, about the whole place being on a lockdown, so I'm wondering if his family member might be one of those few who had direct contact with the guy. Not really sure how I'd ask such a question of a person who is essentially a stranger.

I wonder if the CDC is going to require testing of the staff that had contact with that patient. Could be the prudent thing to do.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 51728832

During a press conference earlier they said the children are monitored but the adults are under "self" monitoring.

Meaning they are counting on people to report if they develop symptoms.

Of the 12-18 known contacts that is.
