Make Your Own AR-15 With Defense Distributed's New 'Ghost Gunner' Desktop CNC Mill Priced ~$1000
Ghost Gunner is a miniature CNC machine designed to automatically manufacture publicy created designs with nearly zero user interaction. No prior CNC knowledge or experience is required to manufacture from design files. Defense Distributed's first design is the venerable AR-15 lower receiver. Ghost Gunner automatically finds and aligns your 80% lower receiver to the machine, with simple installation instructions, point and click software and all required tools. Just follow a few simple instructions to mount your 80% lower receiver, tighten a couple screws (with simple tools we provide), and on day one, Ghost Gunner can help you legally manufacture unserialized firearms in the comfort of your own home.

Holy Sh*t. I doubt these will be on the market for very long. Left coast politics is going to be allll over this.

From the same company that brought us the Liberator, 3D printed single shot pistol.

As badass as these things look, I probably still wouldn't put one on my credit card.

Let's hope some local dealers start stocking them

An M16/AR15 lower receiver can be easily manufactured by the owner of a current receiver to use as a template, a drill press, files, and a die to thread as long as time is not a factor.

The difficulty is in creating the myriad of small parts, thermoplastics, and the barrel assembly/upper.

Soon, this reality will be taken into account and observation will be expanded.

BATFAGS will clamp down on those real fast by claiming you are not making them 100% by yourself. They will say that since you did not make the CNC programs and fixturing yourself it is not legal under the law. They shut down the "Build Parties" a few years ago by the same reasoning.

Looks like a cool toy and if you want one maybe pay cash with no trail for the Feds to follow when they steal the customer list from Ghost Gunner.

It's not that easy either. You have to have special tools, and it's really hard to maintain uniformity through pieces.

Besides, this thing is cheaper than most decent drill presses anyway.

The kicker about all those difficult little smaller parts, thermoplastics, and barrel assembly/upper is that you can buy them in cash, legally, without registration from a gun dealer.

The Ghost Gunner is for the manufacture of the one part of the gun that you can't just walk out and buy without leaving a paper trail, in most cases. (obviously you could just buy one in cash from someone, but it still has a trail)

Wow.

I know that this isn't new tech or anything, but neither was 3D printing when it finally came into the consumer price range.

I'd say the man will start "outlawing" those 80% paperweights.

"if it looks like a weapon, it has to have a serial number" or some bs line of logic will come out.

Buy what? a Ghost Gunner? or an AR-Lower?

If you are referring to a lower; yes, you can buy them cash, but they still have serial numbers and can be tracked to a degree. At least regionally.

ATFE thugs interpret the law any way they want and even in some cases, like model rocket engines, simply move into an industry without congressional approval.

Their authority is illegitimate. So follow the 11th commandment, keep your mouth shut and exercise your God-given rights. And buy the CNC machine with cash or cash-like instruments. NEVER purchase with a credit card tied to you.

Good advice.

It's legal, but if it were to become Illegal all the sudden, you wouldn't want to be on a list.

I've also heard there are limits on the amounts of those 80% lowers one can have, but I'm not sure of the numbers or particulars. Anyone know?

What would you call "special tools"?????????

Do you consider a drill press a special tool? I purchased a floor stand model for $100 in perfect condition from a pawn shop.

That would be THE ONLY tool used that I would call special and a drill press isn't special in my book!!!

But why go through all that when you can get AR lowers for less than a hundred and in some cases on sale for around $50!!!!

When you consider most states mine included don't register weapons why are you worried about a paper trail? If you add to that the lack of restriction about person to person selling how do you think they're going to track ANYTHING down????????

BATF to individual: where is the AR receiver you purchased?
I sold it! There is no tracking after the sale!!!!!!!

I think the lack of state legislation is probably may get re-thought once it actually becomes an issue; people making guns at home.
