The Lord continues that this will happen when 'he' passes through. Again this probably refers to the antichrist - since the last few verses of this chapter without a doubt refers to the last days:

Nahum 1:12....when he shall pass through
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76774916

This is in the future - after the gog magog war, and the great tribulation:

Nahum 1:12...Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
 Quoting: b4its2l8

God says I break his yoke from off thee

This has happened in the past and will happen in the future again
 Quoting: b4its2l8

In the past (Biblehub):

Isaiah 10:27 His burden shall be taken away...the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing

His burden shall be taken away - The oppressions and exactions of the Assyrian.

Judah was still tributary to Assyria; Hezekiah (Anointed one) had not yet revolted, as he did in the beginning of Sennacherib's reign.
 Quoting: b4its2l8

The antichrist's name, number and image will no longer exist:

Nahum 1:14 And the Lord hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art vile.

Nahum 1:15 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings...

Re: All prophecies the bible says will happen in End Times are happening or almost completed at present
This is interesting:

From therussophile:

Sun turned dark noon to 3pm (3 hours) in Yakutia, Russia

Mark 15:33

When Jesus died on cross, sun turned dark at noon it stayed dark for 3 hrs - from noon to 3pm

Pulpit Commentary

Verse 33. - And when the sixth hour was come:
This would be midday, twelve o'clock; and the darkness continued until the ninth hour, that is, three o'clock. This supernatural darkness came when the day is wont to be at its brightest

In ancient time, Judah, hindered by armies from going up to Jerusalem, and its cities taken, may now again keep the feasts there, and the vows which in trouble she promised...

In end times, the Israelis were prevented from praying on the temple mount; but now they can.

Nahum 1:15 ...O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows

If I understand what you are asking -

It's because, to me, every verse in the bible is amazing in its succinctness and each phrase rich in meaning.

Besides most hate a wall of text, as I do.

Kings 19:19 So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.

---

Elijah cast his mantle on Elisha:

He's giving this mantle to Elisha because it's a symbol meaning he is chosen to be Elijah's replacement.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76676352

Elisha knew exactly what Elijah had done - but so did Elijah saying - what have I done to thee?; knowing that being a prophet of the Lord could be a death sentence in Ahab's kingdom.

20 And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76687911

But Elisha was determined to go with Elijah:

Kings 19:21 And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76694423

Trouble was brewing for Ahab and his kingdom.

Benhadad the king of Syria sought all that Ahab possessed.

Kings 20:1 And Benhadad the king of Syria gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots; and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it.

2 And he sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel into the city, and said unto him, Thus saith Benhadad,

3 Thy silver and thy gold is mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the goodliest, are mine.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76697355

Ahab was not too anxious for a confrontation - so he agreed to all the kings demands:

Kings 20:4 And the king of Israel answered and said, My lord, O king, according to thy saying, I am thine, and all that I have.

5 And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speaketh Benhadad, saying, Although I have sent unto thee, saying, Thou shalt deliver me thy silver, and thy gold, and thy wives, and thy children;

6 Yet I will send my servants unto thee to morrow about this time, and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, that whatsoever is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away.

This was one of many times that God let Ahab be victorious in Battle against Syria, despite Ahab wicked ways.

But one thing God would not stand for - was his taking an innocent man's land and life.

So God passed Judgement on him:

Kings 21:17 Then the Lord said to Elijah, the prophet from Tishbe, 18 "Go to King Ahab of Samaria. You will find him in Naboth's vineyard, about to take possession of it.

19 Tell him that I, the Lord, say to him, "After murdering the man, are you taking over his property as well?' Tell him that this is what I say: "In the very place that the dogs licked up Naboth's blood they will lick up your blood!' "

Ahab told the messenger of Benhadad, he would only do what he agreed to initially - no more.

Kings 20:9 Wherefore he said unto the messengers of Benhadad, Tell my lord the king, All that thou didst send for to thy servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again.
 Quoting: b4its2l8

This news angered Benhadad - and he resolved to go to war against Israel:

Kings 20:10 And Benhadad sent unto him, and said, The gods do so unto me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.

11 And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his harness boast himself as he that putteth it off.

12 And it came to pass, when Ben-hadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said unto his servants, Set yourselves in array. And they set themselves in array against the city.
 Quoting: b4its2l8

God's plans were to replace Ahab - but not with Ben-hadad.

So he sent a prophet to Ahab, and told him he's going to defeat Ben-hadad that very day:

Kings 20:13 And, behold, there came a prophet unto Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Hast thou seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into thine hand this day; and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.
 Quoting: b4its2l8

That was one of many times that God let Ahab be victorious in Battle against Syria, despite Ahab wicked ways.

But one thing God would not stand for - murdering an innocent man for his land.

 Quoting: b4its2l8

And Ahab meets his end:

Small excerpt:

The prophesied death of Ahab came about during a battle in which Israel and Judah were allied against Syria. An enemy archer fired a very "lucky" shot from a distance, aiming only at the body of troops. But what did he hit? King Ahab - the random shot not only hit the king himself, but also just "happened" to hit him between the sections of his armor where there was no protection. He bled through the day before dying at sunset. In a very ghastly spectacle, dogs licked up his blood from his chariot - just as The Lord had declared for his bloody wickedness.

"So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramothgilead. And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle."

"And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded. And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot."

"So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria. And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of The Lord which he spake." (1 Kings 22:29-30,34-35,37-38 KJV)

Re: All prophecies the bible says will happen in End Times are happening or almost completed at present
Great commentary on events leading up to antichrist's take over of the world:

Till the World Ends

> 50%

The current world order is inadequate for what Satan has in mind, global domination, so he must capitalize on the next major crisis to align the nations as he sees fit...

So leading up to that event, he needs the nations at a point where one man can assume total power. Not just political power, but economic, religious, and military power as well.

Even now this man lives, and is quietly and unassumingly positioning himself to be at the right time and place
....

What the world leaders are waiting for now, they are not entirely sure; but they sense something coming, like one who smells the rain before the storm. There is an energy in the air, and the time seems ripe for transformation. The unbelieving and Christ-rejecting world thinks they are entering into the Age of Aquarius, but what they will get instead, is the age of antichrist. The age of antichrist will be filled with false signs and wonders. This age begins shortly after the Rapture of the Church, this where Christ triumphantly reclaims His bride (both the living and the dead) to Himself in the air. There, we will be paraded before the prince of the power of the air as a cherished prize, and we will go to be with the Lord forever.

Once the church is removed from the earth, Satan will have to move quickly to consolidate all authority under this one man. He will be a god of fortresses, who understands dark sentences, blasphemes God, and will do all that he pleases (Dan. 8:23-25, 11:36-39). The world will marvel after the beast. While they will initially be brought into some apostate form of religion known as Mystery Babylon, ultimately, they will be instructed by the False Prophet to abandon their apostate devotion to her and instead, worship the man of lawlessness directly. He will have supernatural power, but not of his own, but from that of his benefactor, Satan.

But in the midst of this global turmoil, will come judgments. One after another, unrelenting in their delivery, terror, and ferocity. Bunkers and caves will not save men. Great armies will not save men. Technology will not save men. Luxuries will not save men. In fact, the only salvation found in this final week of years, will come at great suffering and ultimately martyrdom, because that will mean you did not surrender to the lie and follow the beast and his false prophet (Rev. 13:7). If you did not follow the beast or his prophet, it is ONLY because God spares you from the delusion coming upon the earth in those days by way of death (2 Thess. 2:9-12)...

You are quite right - He did die.

But then came back to life.

The proof is the behavior of his disciples - who fled cowardly after his crucifixion - running for their lives.

Hiding from the authorities (Romans & pharisees), because they were a threat to their existing power structure.

Even Peter denied 3 times he knew Jesus.

That was, until Jesus appeared to them, proving he was alive.

After that their behavior changed completely;

Rather than hiding the authorities - They openly preached his resurrection and glory, despite certain death.

He is risen!!

Ahaziah was a foolish king - never realizing no matter what he did, was not going to change the fact that he was going to die.

So he sent another fifty - but this time the captain knew to acknowledge the power of God, and begged for his life and the life of his men; and their lives were spared:

2 Kings 1:13 And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.

14 Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight.

Re: All prophecies the bible says will happen in End Times are happening or almost completed at present

Because Ahaziah was as evil as his father, and continued to worship baal - God pronounced a death sentence on him too:

2 kings 1:2 And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.

3 But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?

4 Now therefore thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.

When the king discovered it was Elijah who told him he would surely die - he sent 50 soldiers to fetch him.

Instead of going with them - he responded, saying - if I'm a man of God - let fire come down and consume thee and thy 50, and they were consumed by fire from heaven:

----

2 Kings 1:7 And he said unto them, What manner of man was he which came up to meet you, and told you these words?

8 And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.

9 Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.

10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

The king repeated this action with the same results:

2 Kings 1:11 Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.

12 And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

This time however, Elijah was told to go with the captain:

2 Kings 1:15 And the angel of the Lord said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.
