They are happening now just as they have been happening for the past 2000 years and will continue happening indefinitely into the future.

Once Elijah reached his destination - God spoke to him and ask him what he was doing there:

Kings 19:9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76591399

Of course, Elijah isn't telling God anything he doesn't already know.

The children of the Lord don't obey the law - have killed all the prophets, and now want to kill him.

Kings 19:10 And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76631018

God commanded that he goes up to the mount and stands before the Lord.

Many weather & other events happen - but he doesn't find the Lord in any of them.

Instead a very soft voice speaks to him:

Kings 19:11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:

12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76637561

God was speaking softly to Elijah and ask him again what he was doing there?

And Elijah repeated the fact that he was the only prophet who is still alive, and now they want him dead.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75416647

God doesn't rebuke Elijah for running away - instead he tells him he has some anointing to do:

Kings 19:15 And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria

The antichrist isn't yet on the Earth.

We are in the latter days, less days ahead then behind, but we still have several generations to go.

We have work to do. God hasn't been preparing us for years to suddenly zap us away.
 Quoting: Flight 815

What is a generation in the bible?

70 years (Psalm 90:10)

So in the parable of the fig tree - we are to use this to gauge what is meant by infant - young or old.

So when Israel is still young and tender (Matthew 24:32)

Is about what age?

So I'm guessing we might have a decade or so.

Definitely not generations.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76645885

The word has been translated "generation", biased toward popular belief. It can actually be translated "race", that is, the human race. If you look in your Bible at the word "generation" you will see a pointer to this alternative translation in notes at the bottom.

Also check out the equivalent passage in Luke 21:29b: "Look at the fig-tree and ALL THE TREES." If the fig-tree is Israel, then what is "and all the trees"?

The fig tree and all the trees is not Israel but the whole body of Christ and it is talking about SPIRITUAL fruit, not physical.

Here's a more accurate interpretation:

"The human race will not pass away until the whole body of Christ is in full bloom."

Jesus said what is it to us to know the times and seasons and that no one knows the hour or the day. He would be contradicting himself to then give something that could be calculated mathematically with the carnal mind.

Stop trying to figure it out, there is no countdown. Work out your salvation daily with fear and trembling and let times and seasons be The Father's business as Jesus said they were.

Yes except there will be no second coming for religion or ancient alien theorists. Scripture is spot on once one understands that most characters in the bible are an astronomical reference. They come from far away lands ... Comets and asteroids to deliver final judgement

Plus religion hides the truth from the public. Churches with 8 petal flower of life over the front entrance -some under a triangle or pyramid. The flower of life is our solar system wbtw is depicted inside the great pyramid of Giza

Both Jeremiah and Isaiah describe the GP of Egypt as a sign and a witness. Daniel records the man clothed in white linen beside the river with his arms outstretched. This again is the GP encased in polished tura limestone beside the Nile with Kings chamber shafts pointed to the heavens

Of Gods two witnesses, Michael, the archangel of war, is Gods first witness and he is the Great Pyramid - the Pillar of Enoch. Enoch's testimony as witness told us the signs are the stars in the heavens.

There is little personal information about Jehu except that he was a long-standing veteran and an effective soldier. God had determined to get rid of Ahab, and to extirpate his wicked house. ” . . . There was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up” (1 Kings 21:25).

Ahab coveted a piece of property next to his. When he tried to purchase the land, the owner-Naboth-refused to sell, as he regarded it as family inheritance. Ahab returned to his house and pouted. Jezebel saw this and offered to get the land for him. She trumped up phony charges and had Naboth and his sons executed. Ahab did not hesitate to take the property.

And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it. And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine . . . . Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity...

"He's giving this mantle to Elisha because it's a symbol meaning he is chosen to be Elijah's replacement." dog poo.

One did not replace the other. never did, never will.

Elijah is to the Body of Christ that goes up like Elijah as Elisha is to Bride of Christ who gets a double believing ability and much more to continue into another situation of a time with a wicked king, the Antichrist.

Before the antichrist is revealed, the gathering has to happen first. Malachi 3:1

Let's see how many hairs we have to split to make you correct regarding that word replace:

lets see - replace means to take the place of

To take someones mantel is to take on/assume the mantle of someone/something

to assume To take on a specific role or position

"To take over a role" is, as you said, to take a role that was previously occupied by somebody else, which seems to be what you're looking for, as your colleague "replaced" another worker, so he "took over" that worker's role.

What does it mean to take up the mantle?

assume the mantle. (figuratively, with "of") To take on a specific role or position, along with any associated responsibilities.

--------

I'll keep trying :)

Romans 10:9 or DOOM!

Doom out!

To avoid confusion I'll jump ahead a little:

Elijah is taken alive into heaven - and throws his mantle to Elisha:

2 kings 2:11 ...behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

13 He [Elisha] took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him

Romans 1:20

Invisible things of the world clearly seen

From clarksvilleonline:

For the first time, astronomers have directly imaged the formation and expansion of a fast-moving jet of material ejected when the powerful gravity of a supermassive black hole ripped apart a star that wandered too close to the massive monster.

Elisha was to be anointed and take the place of Elijah, eventually...

But first they were to have many adventures together.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76666910

The three people that Elijah anointed are connected in a prophetic series of events:

kings 19:17 And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76670330

The Lord told Elijah that there are many people in Israel that are faithful - so Elijah need not feel alone...

Kings 19:18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76676352

Kings 19:19 So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.

---

Elijah cast his mantle on Elisha:

He's giving this mantle to Elisha because it's a symbol meaning he is chosen to be Elijah's replacement.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76676352

Elisha knew exactly what Elijah had done - but so did Elijah saying - what have I done to thee?; knowing that being a prophet of the Lord could be a death sentence in Ahab's kingdom.

20 And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?

The antichrist isn't yet on the Earth.

We are in the latter days, less days ahead then behind, but we still have several generations to go.

We have work to do. God hasn't been preparing us for years to suddenly zap us away.
 Quoting: Flight 815

What is a generation in the bible?

70 years (Psalm 90:10)

So in the parable of the fig tree - we are to use this to gauge what is meant by infant - young or old.

So when Israel is still young and tender (Matthew 24:32)

Is about what age?

So I'm guessing we might have a decade or so.

Definitely not generations.

1948...Israel became a nation. She turn 70 this year. I expect the Antichrist, any day now.

It is not about the length of life, it is not a metric as many think and try to fit, it is a people, the sons of Jacob will not die out, lucifer will not defeat God by killing them. A closer look at the words that translated this would reveal an understanding, not some blind superstition of a time metric to observe and watch for.

but kudos on the optimism of ten years, if only it were true, hold on tight to your dreams.

But Elisha was determined to go with Elijah:

Kings 19:21 And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.
