When Elijah met with the king - he reiterated his death sentence:

2 Kings 1:16 And he said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
 Quoting: b4its2l8

And of course he died - because God decreed it:

2 Kings 1:17 So he died according to the word of the Lord which Elijah had spoken.
 Quoting: b4its2l8

Elijah is about to make his next to the last journey in his life - that we know of.

I say next to the last - because even though he is taken to heaven alive, we're told he'll return before the great tribulation.

2 Kings 2:1 And it came to pass, when the Lord would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind...
 Quoting: b4its2l8

What can we expect as we race towards Jesus returning to this earth?

The Spirit of Elijah and Prophetic Ministry at the End of the Age

Small excerpt:

As nations increasingly come to the brink of national judgments and the earth as a whole races towards the Day of the Lord, the ultimate judgment of which all previous judgments have foreshadowed, God will again flood the earth with prophets of the same stature as those recorded for us in the Old Testament.

This time one of the most significant differences will be that the prophets that are coming will not be confined to Israel but will be sent to every nation of the earth. In time past, Israel alone carried the mysteries of God when prophets were sent.

We are living in a time period where the gospel is being proclaimed to every nation on earth.

Every nation has been brought into the revelation that was given to Israel and therefore every nation will be held accountable to this revelation by a company of prophets.

Prophets will not just be sent to Israel at the end of the age, but to the nations of the earth. This will be a unique prophetic ministry that will be given because of the unique dynamics of the end of the age.

News traveled fast - everywhere Elijah and Elisha went - the prophets asked Elisha if he knew his master was to be taken into heaven that day.

And Elisha each time told them he did:

2 King 2:2 And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.

3 And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

4 And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.

5 And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

Elijahs last stop would be Jordan - and 50 prophets gathered to watch his ascension into heaven:

2 Kings 2:6 And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the Lord hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.

7 And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off

Notice the words 'took up' in 2 Kings 2:13 - (Synonym: Take on)

The first time I mentioned Elisha's receiving the mantle - I said he was replacing Elijah.

Of course, there is no way Elisha could replace him.

But he was now taking over the role of Elijah as one of the Lord's prophets.

Re: All prophecies the bible says will happen in End Times are happening or almost completed at present
...

 Quoting: b4its2l8

The prophets who viewed Elijah's departure, urged Elisha to search the mountains and valleys, fearing Elijah may have been dashed to death.

Elisha gave in to this, but they never found a body:

---

2 Kings 2:15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

16 And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the Lord hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.

17 And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.
 Quoting: b4its2l8

We know from previous posts - this is not the end of Elijah:

Malachi 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord
 Quoting: b4its2l8

The fact that Elijah will return before the great tribulation conjures up many questions - at least for me.

One is - what nation will he first appear?
 Quoting: b4its2l8

My initial thoughts are where he rose into heaven from....
You can choose God - or not..

But when things go bad - don't expect him to come running; if you choose to live without him.

Naturally, there will be those who say that's not so.

He didn't appear physically - but spiritually:

Small Excerpt:

Nothing about John would indicate that he was Elijah. Elijah had physically ascended "into heaven" in a "chariot of fire." And, everyone believed that the same Elijah who had disappeared into heaven was himself, personally going to return... possibly even in the same "chariot of fire" that he had used when he ascended up into heaven.

In what way could John the Baptist have been the return of Elijah? Certainly not literally. This apparent contradiction can be resolved by a statement made at the beginning of the Gospel of Luke where it explains that John went

"on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah." -Luke 1:17 (KJV)

Elijah had returned from heaven in the "spirit". John went "on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah."-Luke 1:17 (KJV) Viewed this way, both John and Jesus were right. The man named Elijah who had lived eight hundred years earlier had not literally, physically returned from heaven in the flesh as just about everyone expected. Instead, the fulfillment of the 'return of Elijah from heaven' prophecy had nothing to do with Elijah's physical body. It was the return of the same "spirit and power" of God that had animated Elijah eight hundred years earlier that had returned to also animate John the Baptist. The reality of Elijah's return was the appearance of yet another totally separate and distinct Prophet of God. (Yes, Jesus did refer to John as a Prophet.) This is the true meaning of "the return."...

For those who believe he's returned already - we have this:

Elijah after his disappearance delivered a letter to King Jehoram

Jehoram received a letter from Elijah the prophet, which said:

People for 2000 years have been incorrectly saying Jesus would return, or it's already happened.

Well - it couldn't have happened because the technology didn't exist. Until Now!!

You couldn't see something happening on the other side of the world - this passage below makes no sense to anyone living in Jesus time.

Only we today can understand the technology it takes for this to happen (Dan 12-Knowledge will increase):

Rev 13:9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall SEE their dead bodies three and an half days lie in the street. (KJV)

This says other people from other nations will SEE their dead bodies in the street.

The tech didn't exist for people to be in a FIELD or someone on a ROOF and both 'simultaneously' seeing something they should act on i.e. the antichrist STANDING in the temple.

Math 24:15 When ye therefore shall SEE the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

Question is - How are you going to SEE the antichrist stand in the temple from a field or rooftop without a mobile device?

Another question - when did we ever see anyone standing in the temple declaring he is god? (2 Thess 2)

Never!!
You can choose God - or not..

But when things go bad - don't expect him to come running; if you choose to live without him.

Of course, this is based on Elijah's returning in end times:

Small Excerpt:

It's really very simple. John was not Elijah by name or body, but the flesh profits nothing; he had the spirit of Elijah. Thus, literally he was and was not Elijah. Malachi 4 is speaking of John the Baptist only in the biblical phenomenon sense of dual prophetic fulfillment....

The way a Christian can know that there are two comings of Elijah is by the passage attributed in Isaiah about preparing the way of the Lord. In that passage the Lord tells Elijah to "Comfort my people," because Jerusalem had already received "double" for her sins.

John did not preach comfort, but that the axe was already laid at the root of the tree. Only after John was beheaded was Jerusalem destroyed a second time (i.e., twice) by the 10th Legion of Titus c. 68-70 A.D.

Therefore, the end-time Elijah will be one who turns hearts to Messiah and comforts them with reassurance of salvation as the nations threaten to destroy the Jewish nation for possession of Jerusalem- or, more specifically, a Muslim capital of Jerusalem.

So Elijah will be born again...

Re: All prophecies the bible says will happen in End Times are happening or almost completed at present
Elijah was taken by God before Jesus was resurrected. Enoch would also qualify and both would become part of the 'many OT Saints' that were resurrected the same morning Jesus was. They would also have ascended to the Re:4 Temple with Jesus and stayed there while Jesus came back to be with a few followers as they went through their 40 day fast.
They would be the 24 Elders and they will have thrones in Jerusalem during the 1,000 year reign. They will instruct the whole House of Israel how temple service is done in a sinless world. It is a class that is 1,000 years long.
Moses is part of the ones in the Eze:37 resurrection and they join the 144,000 and combined they are 'the 12 Tribes', as such Moses would be a member of the 'flock' and the 24 Elders would be the 'shepherd'. The ones alive for the 1,000 years will be shepherds to all the people not alive for the 1,000 years once the new earth era starts.

Mal:4:5:
Behold,
I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
Mal:4:6:
And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children,
and the heart of the children to their fathers,
lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

One of the subjects they would teach is about Satan and the remaining fallen angels are the 'Gog and Magog' in Eze:38 and 38 as Gog does not exist until 7 years and 7 months of the 1,000 year reign has passed. John the Baptist is being referenced in the verses below and together they are the two bruises from Ge:3:15.

Mal:3:1:
Behold,
I will send my messenger,
and he shall prepare the way before me:
and the Lord,
whom ye seek,
shall suddenly come to his temple,
even the messenger of the covenant,
whom ye delight in:
behold,
he shall come,
saith the LORD of hosts.

I haven't come across the 'blood moons' theory as it was supposed to 'climax' at the solstice coming up according to some theories.
Pre-tribbers were pushing it, I tend to thing the blood moon is caused by the smoke created when Jesus uses the fire used on Sodom is used on Satan's Babylon for a single hour

Ezekiel 37:11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

Ezekiel 37 is all about Israelis returning to their land.

I don't recall any biblical basis for Moses ever residing in Israel...

Remember Israel is Jacob's progeny....
You can choose God - or not..

But when things go bad - don't expect him to come running; if you choose to live without him.
