I hope you folks realize that if even a face mask is suggested they have admitted it is transfered by air.

What they are really saying is that full court contamination precautions are expensive and they won't be forthcoming. AND, they're probably not made in the US, but in China which, strangely enough, is not in the mood to give us a few hundred million protection suits when they need them themselves.

Which means any nurse or doc who wants to take care of patients under these limited precautions risks taking it home to their families.

Which means very few people will be showing up for work once the SHTF, which would be any day now, given the public worry, the flu season, school starting, and the total inability to tell a simple flu from something lethal.

And to make it fun, I bet the hypochondriacs are pouring out of the woodwork right about now.

The bunch at the CDC really are a bunch of tards. There is no doubt about it now, not that there ever was.

We believe there is scientific and epidemiologic evidence that Ebola virus has the potential to be transmitted via infectious aerosol particles both near and at a distance from infected patients, which means that healthcare workers should be wearing respirators, not facemasks.1

The minimum level of protection in high-risk settings should be a respirator with an assigned protection factor greater than 10. A powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) with a hood or helmet offers many advantages over an N95 filtering facepiece or similar respirator, being more protective, comfortable, and cost-effective in the long run.

We strongly urge the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to seek funds for the purchase and transport of PAPRs to all healthcare workers currently fighting the battle against Ebola throughout Africa—and beyond.

Not true, as they only recommend respirators when dealing with "Aerosol Generating Procedures (AGPs)".

There is no mention of isolated air-handling systems, negative pressure isolation rooms, or scheduled air exchanges when dealing with infected patient placement.

Patient Placement
-Single patient room (containing a private bathroom) with the door closed
-Facilities should maintain a log of all persons entering the patient's room

There is also no mention of respirators being required when dealing with an infected patient outside of a AGP.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
All persons entering the patient room should wear at least:
-Gloves
-Gown (fluid resistant or impermeable)
-Eye protection (goggles or face shield)
-Facemask
Additional PPE might be required in certain situations (e.g., copious amounts of blood, other body fluids, vomit, or feces present in the environment), including but not limited to:
-Double gloving
-Disposable shoe covers
-Leg coverings

And they state these added precautions are only needed when performing a Aerosol Generating Procedure on an infected patent, and in most cases say these protrusions are ideal but not necessarily required.

Aerosol Generating Procedures (AGPs)
-Conduct the procedures in a private room and ideally in an Airborne Infection Isolation Room (AIIR) when feasible. Room doors should be kept closed during the procedure except when entering or leaving the room, and entry and exit should be minimized during and shortly after the procedure.
-HCP should wear gloves, a gown, disposable shoe covers, and either a face shield that fully covers the front and sides of the face or goggles, and respiratory protection that is at least as protective as a NIOSH certified fit-tested N95 filtering facepiece respirator or higher (e.g., powered air purifying respiratory or elastomeric respirator) during aerosol generating procedures.
-If re-usable equipment or PPE (e.g. Powered air purifying respirator, elastomeric respirator, etc.) are used, they should be cleaned and disinfected according to manufacturer instructions and hospital policies.

Those fuck heads tell us that shit works, but they are in full level four (positive press) suits. You wont see anyone from CDC wearing that level 2 set up while dealing with a level 4 threat! That's how the nurse got it in Spain. The other nurses there are pitchin' a hissy fit now. I don't blame them, it's a matter of life and death.

Im sorry but they do this shit all the time. They dont care about the little person at all its about profit.

I was working at a facility took report at one point on a TB pt. They honestly wanted me to walk in that room with a mask that had not been fit tested. I do ventilator work and you break the lines/seals on those and that stuff is sprayed under pressure all over the room. The gal I was going to relieve actually had had one from before they changed the policies and tried to reduce cost by not fit testing at that particular hospital. They cared nothing for any of us at all. Both me and my partner went to walk out and the supervisor panicked on us and tried to downplay. We didn't buy it so he folded made some calls and saw that we did get fit tested. It was a mess and this is exactly what they are trying to do here. Anyone not willing to throw a fit at this point to see that they get the protection level they need will be very easy collateral damage. These levels of masks and contained ventilation are protocols that have been in place for ebola since I first studied infection control 15 years ago. THEY KNOW AND THEY DO IT ANYWAY!

I wouldn't either. Of course ebola is airborn...if it is found in all bodily fluids then it will be found in saliva. When someone coughs or sneezes...droplets are formed from this and thus an aerosol is created in the room. Heavy droplets will fall to the ground...who knows how long the smaller droplets stay in the air....but eventually it all falls to the floor/ground so yes shoe coverings would be necessary as well as respirators in my opinion! I would love to be a little bird to see how the medical team in Dallas Hospital is suiting up and to see their isolation precaution procedures for this ebola patient.

The reason the CDC is saying that respirators are not needed is because of the monetary factor and the fact that I read somewhere on here that most of our PPE supplies are outdated from the Department of Homeland Security. They are trying to cut corners and hoping it works. Part of me thinks that they really are not hoping this works.
