15 million to 60 million people get the flu each year in the USA
There are several versions of the flu, types A, B, C and variations within those groups.

Adding any viral infectious decease to the mix will surely takes its share of the overall population that becomes ill.

Liberias population is about 4 million and in 2014, about 3,500 contracted Ebola or about 0.09% of the population.

0.09% of the USA population is about 270,000.

The flu in the USA at most kills about 50,000 people a year.

No doubt better hygiene and better screening at our borders would lower those deaths.

It could be the worse case 270,000 deaths in the USA from Ebola.

Perhaps those statistics just are not that concerning to people making the decisions.

I think we are in for a very interesting "flu" season to say the least.

There has been and surely will continue to be good information on this site for prevention and treatment options.

My contribution is a product that is a MAsk in the form of a scaRF called a MARF.

I fly every month and always take one on board the airplane, now I take one with me to all public places.

Marfs can be purchased on Amazon and more information found on the web site at www.marfs.com

Come to think of it that means about 1 in 1000 chance to catch it based on what has happen in Liberia to date.

Oh and I read and hear a lot of comments that well their health care system is much worse, so thats why it spreads, the problem with that comment is that they do not travel, go to malls, supermarkets like we do either.

Walking around a village or a neighborhood is a big difference. How many new faces do we see a day that we have not seen before, a thousand?

When we go to an airport, train station or sports event we might see tens of thousands...

WHO says up to 500,000 globally and CDC up to 50,000 in the USA die of the flu annually.

If we apply what has happen in Liberia to a global population 0.09% of 7,000,000,000 is about 6 million possible Ebola cases.

1 in 10 chance it is Ebola if that person gets sick within 21 days of being exposed to a person with Ebola.
