Re: Post Your Crock Pot Recipes
These are amazing.

French dip sandwiches
4 lbs rump roast
1 can beef broth
1 pck onion soup mix
1 bottle of a DARK beer
french rolls
slices of provolone cheese
few shakes of onion powder, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce
**beer is key, it doesn't taste like beer but you get awesome flavor from it. I used guiness but any dark works, light won't because you need the malty flavor of a stout**
Trim excess fat or cartilage from roast and toss in crock pot. Add beef broth, onion soup mix, onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce and beer
cook on low for 7 hours
remove roast, shred and throw back in for 30 min.. cut rolls in half, lay cheese on them pop under broiler and use the leftover juice in crock for the au jus!!!

Re: Post Your Crock Pot Recipes
I make a lot of slow cooker meals, but one thing I'm doing today is making whole sweet potatoes in the crock: wash them but don't dry them, plop them in the crock, cook on low for 8 hours.
 Quoting: WinterWx

Line the crock pot with aluminum foil for easy clean up.
 Quoting: BRIEF

Does that effect the cooking time or the food at all?

------
 Quoting: halman

No, but it beats having to scrub the the crock pot, just peel out the foil and toss it in the trash.
 Quoting: BRIEF

Aluminum is still a bit messy. They make liners for crock pots. You can buy them near the storage baggies in any grocery store.

Re: Post Your Crock Pot Recipes
this is an easy, tasty one my family enjoys (and relatively cheap)...

pack of boneless skinless chicken thighs, raw (usually 6 in a pack)
one green bell pepper
one medium onion
2 14/5 oz diced tomatoes (with juice)
small can diced green chiles (for extra kick)

slice up pepper and onion and place in bottom of crockpot. salt/pepper chicken thighs then place over peppers and onions. pour diced tomatoes on top of that and then the can of chiles. Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours.

Serve over rice.

Re: Post Your Crock Pot Recipes
What puzzles me is that these crockpots are always large and more like for several people rather than one or two people.

I wonder if there are any good smaller ones on the market?

They would be making extra money if they had "singles" version crockpots.

Pretty inexpensive too although I would want a quality product if I'm going to leave the house with it running for the day.

Re: Post Your Crock Pot Recipes
Chicken wings - frozen or fresh sections, marinate in your chosen sauce for an hour or overnight in the fridge, then drop them in the crockpot on high for about four hours. Stir midway through or just enough to keep the wings coated. You can dump them on a pan and broil them a few minutes to give them the 'sticky' wing texture if you want (I usually just eat them right out the pot!)

Layer assorted pork cuts on the bottom of the crockpot. Cut up a yellow union, thin sliced works better, and layer that over the pork. Add a pinch of salt and pepper over this and a few spoon fulls of honey, or just put a few good squirts of hot honey mustard over the onions instead. Then cut up red apples to fill the crockpot the rest of the way. Cook overnight or all day, usually at least eight hours. The pork should be falling apart. Looks like a pile of mush but you'll never find a better one. And the broth it makes, oh my god. It's basically pork flavored apple juice. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Probably my favorite.

Put about two pounds of chicken breast (boneless/skinless) on the bottom of the pot. Dump in a 10 ounce can of peeled whole tomatoes juice and all, a can of corn (drained), one cup of dry black beans, a can of chile verde (green chiles), a can of chipotles in sauce, and add fresh garlic a bay leaf and pepper/peppers to taste. I also like to chop up an onion and some bell peppers to throw in there too. Cook it overnight or until the chicken boobies fall apart when poked with a spoon. Make sure to check that the dry beans are done. Depending on how much juice came out of the veggies you added, you can serve this as a soup or over rice, or roll it up in burritos. Good either way.

Enjoy the wide wide world of crockpotting the shit out of every recipe you can get your hands on!

Re: Post Your Crock Pot Recipes
If you bought a crock pot, that has a dark/black ceramic pot, you can use it even when you do not have electricity.

In Aftrica, the people take dark pots and put a glass lid on it and put it out under the sun. It heats to boiling point.

I've tried it and it works!!!!!!

I've see Walmart have these dark ceramic pots. A while ago, they were not available. I can only think that it is because of the scare of those bombers.

Anyway, try for fun!!!! I live in Florida and it's no problem to heat up anything!!! People do it on top of roofs in the cities too.

To make it even hotter, place the crock in the middle of foiled cardbourd or metal. The rays will really get it hot!

That's what they have done in the mission field!!!!

It's really amazing!!!!! No fire needed!!

Re: Post Your Crock Pot Recipes
Chicken Spinach Soup is my absolute favorite crockpot meal.

1/2 C onion, diced (I used 1 T minced onion)
2 large garlic cloves, minced
2 C chicken broth/stock
1 C water
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. basil
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 can Great White Northern beans
1 chicken breast
~5 oz. spinach (frozen is fine)

Place all ingredients (including the whole, raw chicken breast) in a crockpot and cook on low for ~8 hours. About an hour before serving, remove the chicken breast, allow to cool slightly, and then shred using two forks.Return the meat to the crockpot and continue to cook until ready to serve.

Serve it with french bread, and you're good to go!

*Depending on the size of your family, you'll probably need to double or triple this recipe.

Crunchy rock stew.

1 cup of tiny rocks.
1 cup salt.
2 cups fluffy cat hair (make sure from a long haired cat)
1 teaspoon mustard
half cup blue cheese
a few chicken combs
1 cup of caterpillar (they must be alive, they taste better this way)
1 cup swamp algae
heavy cream, and 2 gallons of water. This works best if cooked in a hot tub, but a crock pot will work too.

Go buy a nice pork roast or something. I cook mine with either some root beer or a couple Sam Adams seasonal..

Maybe put some onions and garlic with sweet baby rays BBQ sauce.

Let it cook on low for 8 hours or so.

Pull it apart with a fork and apply to hamburger bun.
