On a side note, there has been many lawsuits filed against the city in the past few years. Almost all of the lawsuits have either been settled out of court, or won in court. From what I see in this vid, and reading the court documents, these people have a valid case.
As a mother and grandmother, listening to,and seeing the terrified little girl in the back seat of this car, totally ripped me up.

I'm not saying what these cops did was right, because it's obviously not. But they don't have a case.

A police officer has the legal right to ask you to step out of the vehicle during a traffic stop. If you refuse, you are disobeying a lawful order and that opens the door for them to use force to remove you from the vehicle.

Should they have? No. This was obviously contempt of cop that led to this. But legally the cops are in the clear, at least for smashing the window and getting him out of the car.

Was the taser excessive force? Absolutely. They were never intended for use against someone who is passively resisting. But most states guidelines seem to allow use of a taser on anyone who is resisting nowadays, so they are probably in the clear for that as well.

People who try to excercise their rights should definitely learn what they are first.

Being a passenger does not accuse you of committing any crime. All he should have done was to refused to answer any questions.
