Well, in some cultures it's acceptable for Women to get married at 13 and 14 years old. In India, children can get married at 9, and have a civil ceremony at 16.

It's only "Repressed" Christianity/American Society that places the 18+ restrictions on girls getting married.

Well, given that people were old by the time they were 20 back then, I would say that 13 was a good age for marriage!

Because the more enlightened Western societies realize that no 9-12 year old girl WANTS to marry or be sexually penetrated by a 40 year old man. Only men are capable of such stupid thinking. And to protect these young girls from being forced to marry against their will, by parents and other relatives, American society has told old men not to have sexual relations with young girls. If the little girls had some great demand to have sex with old men, I'm sure they could eventually collectively talk their parents into getting the laws changed. But funny thing, they're not clamoring for that, are they.

Seeing as Mary was knocked up by the time Joseph got there, that makes God the pedophile.

He was not a pedophile because Joseph and Mary were a part of the Essene community which was preparing for the birth of a special prophet. The girls were selected for their purity of spirit and raised in the temple to be the mother of this prophet. There was a spiritual purpose to this. At the age of 12 or so, the girls were lined up in the temple and Mary was chosen by an angel. This story is in the Edgar Cayce records, and also in one of the apocryphal gospels. The story of the Essene Jesus is also told in Oahspe. Because Joseph and Mary were part of an advanced religious community and highly spiritual people, there was no pedophilia involved.

People all over the world got married that young at the time - keep in mind life spans were much shorter.

there's nothing particularly unusual about this... it was quite common worldwide before the 20th century for women to be married by the age of 16-18, including in the United States.

Life was simpler back then... all you had to do was drink, have babies/get married, then go out and kill each other.

There was no internet, television, career, school, pursuit of personal destiny to the magnitude there is today.

No one accuses the prophet Mohammed; it is Aisha herself who states that she was 7 years old when betrothed to the 53 year-old Mohammed and that he "consummated" his union with this child when she was 9 years old.

Aisha was his favorite wife. Mohammed had multiple wives.

In the Koran, in Sura 3 and 19, an angel appears to Mary and says:

"Remember) When the angels said O Mary! Allah Gives thee Good News of a son through a Word from Him! His name shall be the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, honoured in this world and in the next, and of those who Are Granted Nearness to Allah! (3.45)

And he shall speak to the people in the cradle, and when of middle age, and he shall be of The Righteous (3.46)

She said My Lord! How shall I have a son when no man has touched me ? He Said, That is as it shall be. Allah Creates what He Pleases. When HE decrees a thing HE says to it "Be" and it is! (3.47)"

Joseph is not the father of Jesus. The Koran refers to Jesus as the Son of Mary.

In 1st century Judiasm, girls were betrothed when they reached puberty. This was not the case with Aisha, who was only 6 or 7 years of age.

Scholars estimate the age of Mary at the time of her betrothal to be anywhere from 12 years and 6 months(at the earliest), to 15.
