We received the below email from one of our staffing sources. This is a very difficult need to ask for assistance for from all of you I know. Nurses are often on the front lines when it comes to new and frightening diseases as you would be in this case. This might also be an opportunity to study the process of this disease and help to stop its spread throughout the U.S. Please read below and if you would consider this assignment please let us know.
Hello Everyone,
As you all know we have a situation in Dallas that is escalating in response to Ebola. The facilities there are in desperate need for ED and ICU nurses. At this point we do not have additional information in regards to rates, housing, etc. At this point we need to know of your nurses have a compact licensure and would be willing to go if needed. Please let us know as soon as possible.

I copied and pasted the email to this post and will post a pic if someone can tell me how to embed it. I've been a member of GLP for 4 years and I know "pic or it didn't happen", LOL.
Friends, this is REALLY disturbing. In 15 years of working with different agencies I have NEVER gotten an email like this. I think this helps prove things are MUCH MUCH worse than we are being told. I live on the West Coast, the only reason they would reach out nationwide is if they have an overwhelming amount of patients or a mass amount of nurses walk off the job. I suspect that they are expecting MASS impact from Duncan's case. The aren't expecting only a couple people to fall ill with Ebola, they are expecting an outbreak of pandemic proportions. This email speaks volumes!!

Trixie, most of my 30 some years in the field are in GI Lab, Cath Lab, Neuro Lab, ER/MICU/CCICU and Specials got off the floor as soon as a possibility presented--traveled from Washington state to USVI been there done that saw the writing on the wall got out 5 years ago--won't go back.

Hospitals are all about the bean counters now--many, not all, new grads know NOTHING about compassionate care--treating each patient like it was your mother, father, sister, or brother REGARDLESS of race, creed, nationality, belief system, or gratitude. It is all about a paycheck today from the chief administrator all the way down--I bet you have seen this yourself.
I don't know where "safe" is anymore--not trying to provoke fear, just observing the reality of it.
All of us need to value, nay, treasure, time with our friends and families. These are the salad days folks--
It is about to get very , very, very worse. Go research the Spanish Flu epidemic in the US after WWI--50,000 died in NEW YORK CITY ALONE Many generations haven't seen or even heard of such a thing, including my own--it was real then, it's REAL NOW.
