Re: Aaaand I got handed/had to sign for an "EBOLA PROTOCOL PACKET" at work today
I uploaded the document, waiting for mod approval so I can post the pics.

I have to leave for work in less than an hour. If I don't get approval before that, I'll post them tonight.

My main point was, I unconsciously rubbed my eye TWICE during less than an hour...maybe if I'd been wearing gloves I wouldn't have.

I may experiment tonight driving home, & wear gloves to see if that helps me stay conscious of where my hands are.

1dunno1

My other point was, our "ebola protocol" is piss-poor.

"What about trash and other contaminated waste?

Special methods of trash removal are required. Another document will be coming soon that will include the trash removal rules."

No, but HIV is a great way to thin the Democrat herd, if we'd quit interfering with its natural purpose and evolution.

Same with Ebola. It trims the low IQ components of the planetary population. Let it fucking run, I say.

American hospitals are not some kind of altruistic charity organizations - they are, for the most part, incredible profit centers for insurance companies and their investors.
We really need to lose the "dedicated to saving humanity" BS and see them as they actually are.
Nurses and doctors are just expendable losses - spokes in the wheel.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 64011316

yeah perhaps they are...But- when the spokes are removed the wheel collapses- the hub is no good to the rim if there are no spokes...this situation-nurses and doctors fleeing from service, might be the catalyst of wide spread panic in near future, very near.

Aids is actually very hard to transmit, in fact, just avoiding some rather deviant / degenerate behavior patterns pretty much eliminates the contagion threat outside of edge cases.

We have ample evidence Ebola is pretty easy to transmit and kills rapidly. Behavior patterns contribute MUCH less to transmission. Even clean living humans can be infected.

Thus, they are completely reasonable in not wanting to be around Ebola.

Re: Aaaand I got handed/had to sign for an "EBOLA PROTOCOL PACKET" at work today
I work in a fairly large regional hospital in NW Louisiana.

I have direct contact with surgical patients.

The *minute* I clocked in & donned my head/shoe covers & went to check the running board for my assignment, I was intercepted by my Educator before I ever got to the Central Nurses' Station (running Board).

I was handed a 3 page document & asked to sign for it.

We generally only have to sign policy changes, disciplinary actions, inservices etc.

I signed & took the 3 page document.

I visually scanned it, but havent thoroughly read it yet.

Driving home 8 1/2+ hrs later... I caught myself rubbing my eyes ~ TWICE!

I'm *trained* in Sterile Technique - it's WHAT I *DO* - but I'm also accustomed to relaxing when I'm not required to be sterile ~ ie, not in surgery.

I failed this evening, driving home.
I may have contaminated myself & my family, & now I cannot trust *even myself!*

My back just SHIVERED.

Here we Go.

If I can't stay sterile during everyday Life...nobody can!

*IT'S ON!*

EVERYWHERE!

Spray your ordinary gloves, and steering wheel with diluted thieves oil.
Have a homemade wipe in your bag or pocket.

There is strong, solid reputable sci. research that essential oils are antiviral and PREVENT infection of microbials.

My sister just received an email from the hospital she works for also, basically stating they have already sent all the information once before but here it is again. All it is is a link to the CDC in what symptoms to look for. She sent an email to her boss asking if there would be any training on dealing with the patients including the biohazard clothing, etc. and they just said it was in the email, which it wasn't. She thinks they are just covering their own asses. They also have had one Ebola scare, test came back negative, but they said they are expecting more. So why not train the nurses and nurse assistants in how to protect themselves? We are in Idaho.

I agree. There was a post last night regarding the Chemical/Biological military training centers and all of the precautions they take to perform live training. Our hospitals are not set up to contain something like this.

I agree with the posters over the past week who think that we should set up offsite Ebola hospitals. Regular hospitals should be reserved for what they are designed to treat (not Level 4 contagions).

We touch our faces 3 to 5 times every minute (average).

I watched the movie 'Contagion' the other night. Of course there are hokey parts in it, it's a movie, but in general it gave a bit of insight of possible shitstorm to come. Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne and Gweneth Paltrow as 'patient zero'.

They used large stadiums to quarantine infected patients. They ran out of body bags. Everything was shut down (stores, airports, gas stations, etc...). A vaccine saved the day in the end and a lottery decided who got it first.

You can probably get the gist of the film just from the boatload of clips on Youtube:

Important post. Thanks OP. Your eye rubbing is a perfect example of one of many normal habits that can result in even trained professionals self contaminating. This is a b-movie nightmare scenario come to life.
