Honestly- what's your opinion? We're still in the beginning of this ebola junk, but she thinks everything is fine. What can I do to convince her not to fly? Also if she does, I'm quarantining her away from us for at least a month. Airlines are cesspools now. Vectors of the virus.

If the disease starts spreading like some predictions, your mom won't need convincing because it'll be common knowledge not to fly in 2 weeks

it is your place to talk with her, express your concerns as just that, your concerns.
Stay rational, make it a 2 way conversation. You might start by handing her an N95 mask and some sterile gloves ( Which will not stop the spread) but will express your concern.
She ultimately needs to make her own decisions.

If the threat, or concern is high enough, you may say, If i get wind that you were on a flight that was at "risk" I will personally ask you to self quarantine for xx # of days.

remember, WE ALL might have to face this same decision...... I know of 4 people who are flying last week/this week....

many others are planning a trip in the next few weeks too.

You are not alone in this thought process.
5 Stars and a bump.

Inform her as best you can, but ultimately it is her decision. Given the incubation time in 2 weeks we may know a lot more and that may change her mind without much dissuading.

I'm not worried about catching the virus on a flight...but it's the quarantine/panic of others that worries me.

I think it would be much wiser of her to drive to her destination if the trip is a necessary one.

However, if she is just going for a casual visit with family, I would personally postpone such travel indefinitely.

Travel of any kind right now simply exposes one to SO MANY MORE other people.

When you travel, you come into contact with anyone you are also exposed to any infectious disease (influenza, TB, Ebola, enterovirus 68) that person has already been in contact with.
