Husband says it'd take over 1000 Ebola cases for him to bug out w/me...different opinion SO thread
I have a spot. Secluded . Ready to go. My husband was kind of democratic when I met him ( had an Obama magnet on his fridge and I wouldn't eat from it, he seemed to change his views after he met me although he claimed to be open minded politically, was clearly more leftist).I believe he's way more democratic than he let's on but whatever, not the point.

He's very much in denial about many things in this world in daily life and on a global scale. He pretends to be all in with conspiracy stuff, and acts like he enjoys hearing my theories and sharing GLP threads with him...but he's a social worker for mentally ill patients in crisis and I can't help feeling like he sometimes thinks I'm crazy.

I DO believe he believes in "bugging out," and I asked him how many people diagnosed officially with Ebola would it take for him to bug out to our spot. He danced around the question until I finally had to throw out some numbers (after showing him the math, ROI etc) and he said, "probably over 1000."

I know he loves his job, but IMO if over 1000 people are diagnosed with Ebola here, there won't BE a job. It's very frustrating. He has problems with change / adjustment and can't really see ahead in situations despite facts presented, and I think it's just a denial coping mechanism.

So
My questions are:

What kind of situation do YOU think we would be looking at if we had over 1000 diagnosed cases? What's your "sign" to bug out? Or in? Do any of you have spouses who don't seem to be on the same page as you with the potential Ebola threat, or conspiracy theories in general? Would love to hear advice as I'm a newlywed (1 year anniversary coming up) and it's not easy to feel crazy!

My family plan isn't necessarily on how many cases but how close it gets to home.

I'm in suburbs of Milwaukee and if it hits even 1 person in Chicago..I am bugging.

Have supplies ready and hubby & kids on alert.

Get lots of water, canned food ready.

Also get a life line water filter. Could def come in handy.

Got my respirator for the kids last night.

normalcy bias. It affects us all.

At least he gave you a number. 1k is actually pretty conservative unless you live in Dallas or Ohio.

Not in Dallas but we are in Texas around the San Antonio area. Not a big city.

My number is 10000, nationwide. I'm gone. It has a x4 monthly multiplier.
THINK ABOUT THIS!

The universe created life to be observed, without an observer, it never existed. So it is a mathematical proof that the universe created life.

My husband is absolutely not on the same page as I am. I find it extremely frustrating. redface

I am in Ohio..

Had this talk with everyone earlier today.

If we get a wave of infected, even a few people a few days apart, we're closing up shop- and heading for the hills.

I'm curious what the advantage of bugging out vs. bugging in are?

If you have sufficient preps, I would think for Ebola you would be safer staying put in your own home for a couple months rather than out in some remote location. Maybe I haven't considered all possibilities, though. I guess if there is also societal breakdown due to an Ebola outbreak, then bugging out to a secluded area would be better than staying home if you live in a city.

I would say location and how many would play a role in it for us, but then again, I am already Bugged Out and have been going on ten years.
