Ebola-Stricken Dallas Nurse Nina Pham Expected to Be Moved to Maryland: Source

Nina Pham, one of the two nurses who contracted Ebola in Dallas, is expected to be moved to a National Institutes of Health isolation unit in Bethesda, Maryland, a federal official with direct knowledge of the plans told NBC News on Thursday.

The transfer could happen later Thursday, but the official cautioned that plans were evolving. Pham, 26, was diagnosed with the virus on Sunday after treating Thomas Eric Duncan, who contracted Ebola in Liberia, flew to Dallas and later died.

The other nurse who contracted Ebola in Dallas, Amber Vinson, was flown on Wednesday to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. The Emory and NIH units are two of the four facilities in the United States that are specially equipped to handle Ebola.

National Institute of Health. This tells me they don't know what the hell they're dealing with, airborne vs not, new strain vs. old strain, etc.

Or they want to weaponize it, who knows?

They should think twice about this. Is this truly in the best interest of the patient?

She's been sick almost a week. Once again they are closing the barn after it's already escaped and chasing the horse down the road. I'm sure mistakes have already been made. The CDC cant' keep their story straight because they are lying their butts off.

Ebola patients flying all over the country. That's sounds like a smart move. So happy another is flown to Atlanta. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy living here.

I remember seeing a while back that Canada was set to begin testing a new ebola cure or vaccine in Maryland. Perhaps this is why she is being moved to this location.

"Today, the NIH knows that KPC isnt gone from the hospital. Oh no, absolutely not, Tara Palmore, an infectious disease specialist at the NIH, told FRONTLINE. I think that we have to be extremely vigilant in the coming years, because of the increasing rise, the increasing prevalence of KPCs in the United States.

Also NIH is not bound legally to report nosocomial (hospital acquired) infections to anyone because they are a governmental agency.

Too true, AC. They were locked-in with Dunkies sweat, blood, and vomit-soaked blankets for days, but now they're out and about.

Worse, I heard the family loves to bowl. A regular ebola league happening and no government comment.

It's all smoke and mirrors.

Spare me.

Problem is that all the healthcare workers that would normally take care of them can't. 75 are now on quarantine/isolation (whatever you want to call it).

Think about that 75 can't work for 3 weeks, that is huge.

Local Fox News actually had a host ask if it was time just to find a warehouse and put cots in them and put everyone in there with law enforcement guarding the doors.

Said it before, will say it again: learn ASAP "moral panic" and "mass panic" as they relate to a pandemic and national security. It falls under the umbrella of what is referred to "force protection."

Once it starts, there will not be time to learn it then.
In every operation, whether planning it or executing it, you can never count on luck; but you have to accept it, and recognize it when its there.

I agree with this. If they test the vaccine on her, and she has a speedy recovery, the manufacturer of the vaccine will be able to say that someone exposed to the Ebola virus was "cured" by taking the vaccine after exposure. It would be a great public relations opportunity for the vaccine manufacturer, and it would easily persuade a lot of people to take the vaccine if an Ebola pandemic broke out and exposure was feared by the public.

BINGO.....

I know its early, but would like to hear more about the victims' progress or decline. Not to be morbid, but to keep track of the progression of the treatment phase.

I wonder what similarities among the survivors could be physically. Blood type, race, etc...
