Run, ISIS, Run! I was beginning to wonder if I had falsely reported the fact that ISIS had lost Kobani to the Kurds, but it is true. Although, Kobani is left with suicide bombers, loss of medicine, and food, we must give the Kurds their win and congratulations. What a battle they have fought!!! The kurdish fighters done well but most of the population ran away to Turkey and Kobane is now a ghost city, its a hollow victory |

Berxwedan told Çaksu that all those who said that Kobani ‘had fallen’ or ‘will fall’ had themselves be defeated, and that if a corridor is opened to the city ISIS will be entirely cleared from the area. It doesnt look like ISIS retreated from #Kobanê. Fighters say coalition strikes are helpful. [link to twitter.com (secure)] --- Noticing a lot of claims on Twitter that the battle is NOT over. The declarations of 'victory' are not very solid, as these towns and crossings trade hands between combatants quite regularly. What may appear to be a pause one day, may very well be a regrouping for another concerted attack. |

What may appear to be a pause one day, may very well be a regrouping for another concerted attack. i was wondering this......good post The town of Tell Abyad is a border crossing with Turkey I believe to be east of Kobane, that was captured by ISIS months ago. I saw a report a few days ago that they had abandoned it, and then saw reports yesterday that they were bringing in fighters from that location for the fight in Kobane. Looking back at headlines from the past year, Syrian defenders and ISIS have traded possession of that crossing quite a few times. It's really anyone's guess as to what's really going on over there, with social media being used as an actual tool of warfighting. All sides use Twitter and whatnot to push their agendas and propaganda. Have to take it all with a grain of salt. |
