HOBACK — The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported a 3.5 magnitude earthquake occurred on Sept. 30, just 12 miles south-southeast of Hoback, Wyoming. The earthquake recorded a depth of 5.0 km (3.1 mile) and was reportedly felt by people in Etna and Freedom, Wyoming. More information about the earthquake can be found at [ link to earthquake.usgs.gov] People who feel an earthquake are encouraged to fill out a survey form at [ link to earthquake.usgs.gov] or via the University of Utah at www.quake.utah.edu. The USGS’ Did You Feel It? program allows people to provide information on an earthquake event they felt in their area. Through an Internet survey, the USGS is able to get a more complete description of what people experienced, the effects of the earthquake, and the extent of damage.
