The unidentified woman who is being monitored disembarked the Carnival Magic with her husband shortly after the ship returned to Galveston, Texas, about 6 a.m. EDT, said Vicky Rey, vice president of guest care for Carnival Cruise Lines. Rey said the couple drove themselves home, but offered no further details.

Company and federal officials have said the woman being monitored for Ebola poses no risk because she has shown no symptoms and has voluntarily self-quarantined.

Petty Officer Andy Kendrick told The Associated Press that a Coast Guard crew flew in a helicopter Saturday to meet the Carnival Magic and retrieved a blood sample from the woman. He said the blood sample was taken to a state lab in Austin for processing.

Kendrick had no further details about how the sample was taken.

I apologize for being so thick but why, if she had now symptoms and is "just fine" cause all this mess and ruin other peoples cruise? I can't wrap my head around this at all. A helicopter for God's sake to get a blood sample of someone who had no symptoms what so ever? Why if she was asymptomatic even self quarantine herself in her stateroom? This makes no sense to me at all.

GALVESTON, Texas -
A blood sample taken from the health care worker who was being monitored on-board the Carnival Magic cruise ship tested negative for Ebola, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

A helicopter met up with the cruise ship Saturday to take a blood sample for testing prior to the ship's Sunday arrival in Galveston. The woman is believed to have handled a lab specimen of Thomas Eric Duncan.

Carnival Cruise Lines released a statement Saturday which read, "Today we were advised by Texas health officials that they felt it was necessary for the health care worker currently on Carnival Magic to submit a blood sample for testing prior to the ship's arrival in Galveston tomorrow morning. As a result, a helicopter rendezvoused with the ship late this afternoon to facilitate the transfer of the sample

Should the Cast guard ot have been involved?? I have heard no mention of them. Shouldnt they have boarded the ship? Why cold they not have gotten the sample??

They are not stupid, for the most part.

It's just unbelievable.....makes you wonder if people are "compensated" to keep silent?

If Carnival was smart it would quickly schedule the Carnival Magic for a special Halloween 'Ebola Ship Zombie Cruise.' Just a thought.

On another thread on here some people have been watching the live cam where the ship docked and they haven't seen anyone leave.

Uh, they couldn't have waited until the ship returned to get a blood sample instead of flying a helicopter out? LOL...I'm starting to think this shit is fake again

What was the reasoning for flying a helicopter out to the boat?

"There is NO possible way that before 9am the entire ship has disembarked. That doesn't happen. People should start disembarking in the next hour I so. I've been on several cruises, and ones with this many passengers just don't clear out in a few early morning hours. There are long lines snaking trough the terminal and waiting for taxis. For the next few hours those cameras should show tons of people going on and off the ship

Also, new passengers aren't normally allowed on until the afternoon. Sail time for the next ship is probably around 4pm or later (as per the norm).

So keep an eye on those cameras because if they don't show people, then the feed is certainly not live."

Is it possible the ship came in very early, while still dark?
I don't know anything about how this works under normal circumstances.

I know that some even have said up to 42 days but the key word here being ASYMPTOMATIC. Who/what gave anyone the idea of all this mess. I mean why would she even stand out what precipitated all this fuss if she is "just fine and no symptoms"? What, did she just go up to the captain or medical officer and volunteer "I was exposed to Duncan's blood in the lab where I work but I am fine"? It does not make any sense as apparently as the reports are she is negative for Ebola. There is definitely something rotten in Denmark.
