Cannabis is one of the best appetite stimulators, they even have strains that help with that more. But its also healing in so many ways, im sure it would help her heal. Check out rick simpson run from the cure on you tube. Good luck!

Try some carnation instant breakfast, its not food food, but its a meal suppliment which may help

I suggest things like potatos, icecreams, things with nice texture

Even if someone isn't hungry, they might be more willing to eat if the texture is something they can stand.

Pet her, give her attention, hug her ect, love is critical in keeping a loved one healthy.

If she still has interest in doing other things (lets say going bowling) Say hey grannie, lets go bowling, but only if you eat this mountain of hamburgers.

But liquid "food" might be the best to start her apitite

Pineapple has digestive enzymes & very good for most intestinal issues. Yogurt & barley malt syrup keep the biome healthy. Last I recall is the pancreas helps digest fats so cut back on fatty foods a bit, something like the 80/10/10 diet would be easy to digest, thats carbs/protein/fat ratios and primarily fruits & vegetables. Fresh juices are great like carrot & beet.

Well you could probably trap her in a room with it burning, or put it on some buttered toast or in coffee

Black Cherry juice from holy foods as we jokingly call it around here is delicious and makes you hungry and cherries are good for digestion.

But really, find out what her comfort food was when she was a kid. Don't ask outright, be sneaky. Talk about when you were sick what your mom did and then ask your gram is your mom got that from her and then ask what her mom did.

A lot of times it's a nice cup of tea and toast. If you are Italian it's pastina with butter and salt.

OP, sounds like she's discouraged. She's 92, she's a font of historical information, about things we read about but that she actually lived.

Somewhere out there is some graduate student in your town who would love to record and interview her about her life, she's a living font of information, valuable, unique information.

You could match that graduate student to your gram and it would be a win/win for both. The student would be really having an experience that is invaluable and your gram would look forward to the student coming to talk to her.

Oh, then she might be pulling a cat move, Aka she wants to die because she knows shes dying.

If shes able, you should try taking her to a swimming physical thyrapy place if you manage to get her eating.

I have been taking care of a loved one who just finished some intense chemotherapy.

The only thing I could get him to eat at his sickest was Ensure mixed with vanilla ice cream. You can just stir it together very well, or mix it in a blender until it is milkshake consistency.

You should be able to buy Ensure at any grocery store, and I know WalMart carries it.

Hope that helps!

Try green smoothies....organic.
This will sustain her and she can just drink and its easy for her to digest.
Now get on it and get grandma back healthy once again after those idiot doctors take out a pancreas.....WTH is up with that? They supposed to be intelligent???

I first thought that a pancreas could not be removed without causing death, so I looked it up.

You can live without a pancreas but you must get daily insulin shots, and take digestive enzymes before meals.

Re: Grandmother had pancreas removed...if she doesnt eat she will die....any advice on anything we can give he to help her?
I'm going to post, even though every time time I post I wind up getting randomly banned from the site, even when the post is totally innocuous...

But it's important enough for me to tell you about...

(I am not a medical doctor, so this is not medical advice, but based on personal experience).

My son has feeding issues due to a developmental disability and has significant problems eating. He gets therapy every week to address his eating difficulties.

Carnation Instant Breakfast is huge. It is packed full of vitamins and nutrients, and is nutritionally equivalent to Ensure (and pediasure and pedialite), and other types of liquid food supplements, only much cheaper. You can buy it in bulk at Costco.

There are days when my son will go for days on end without eating, or without being able to tolerate food. And Carnation Instant Breakfast has been key to keeping his nutrients up.

I also would like to second the poster who mentioned Coconut Oil. It is high in caloric and fat intake (it's pure monounsaturated fat...the good kind of fat). If your grandma drinks coffee or tea, you can put a tablespoon of Coconut oil in it. You can also use it for cooking, in replacement for other cooking oils, but if you want her to get a good concentrated intake of it, put a tablespoon in her tea or coffee. It's liquid when you buy it, but once you open it, it must be refrigerated. It then turns solid. You can put a solid scoop in a hot drink and it will melt, and leave a nice soothing coconut flavor in the drink. I don't even like coconut, but I love the flavor of coconut oil.

But my main suggestion is the Carnation Instant Breakfast. It is actually used as a meal replacement, when digesting solid foods is not possible. The only downside is it had a lot of sugar, but when a person you are caring for is unable to or won't eat, this is a minor downside when compared to getting them the nutrients and calories they need.

Hope this helps!! :)

The blue box is sugar free. Also coconut oil isn't always liquid when its in the store, but that mainly is an issue of how hot it is in the store/your area
