Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Vintage photos show the terrifying first expeditions into the Congo to track down Ebola THE FIRST KNOWN Ebola outbreak devastated a small village called Yambuku and the surrounding area in the north of the Congo in 1976. When it started to kill patients in a missionary hospital, a Flemish nun was infected, and samples of her blood were sent to Belgium. Scientists soon realized they were dealing with something unknown. [ link to www.thejournal.ie] Pray for Us Sinners Now and at the Hour of our Death |

I find it interesting that most infected were pregnant women who had been given "vitamin" shots. Also, I am assuming the doctor didn't get infected, as he wrote a book. |

Terrifying?
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 63077795 I am not op, but I would think it would be terrifying..not knowing what they were dealing with, and coming across villages where the people were dying, and at the same time, those tribes thinking either the expedition were hostile, or trying to get on the plane to get away....also, being aware one could catch whatever it was. |
