Confirmed. Just saw them flying south towards New Brunswick. Flying in formation at low altitude with only nav lights, no anti-collision strobes or landing lights except the last one.

Looks like it was NorthStar, LifeOne and some other State Police helicopters transporting four patients from an accident in Harrison to hospitals in Cherry Hill and Camden.

Harrison? That's right outside Newark. Why would they fly patients 150 miles to the south when there are dozens of ER's available closer to the source. non sequitur

Certain hospitals have trauma units that specialize in the specific injuries sustained.

OP here, I saw them up right as I was getting off 80 East onto 287 South.

I-287 begins in Edison TWP in NJ and snakes through New Brunswick, Morristown, Parsippany and Mahway before entering Suffern, NY.

I am the OP. I couldn't see what they were but they didn't have many lights on at all. They didn't sound like the heavy military choppers either.
