ALERT: Nuclear Accident in Illinois tonight at Honeywell plant, shelter in place

Who in the world has their A/C on in Illinois?

Honeywell spokesman Peter Dalpe wrote that "there have been no injuries and there is no indication that any material has left the building. All plant emergency procedures were followed and safety equipment worked as designed."

Massac County Emergency Management Director -- Joe Miller -- was contacted by Honeywell.

Miller was told -- that the leak was contained -- to inside the building. He says Honeywell was under a plant emergency -- but there is no danger to surrounding homes.

Hopefully no one. Windows shut tight here in Detroit. I'm checking wind maps to confirm but I was told it is heading towards STL.

Wunderground shows they are on the edge of the warm front, it's in the low 70 so probably alot of people with windows open, enjoying the Indian Summer before temps plummet next weekend.

Depends on wind speeds and duration of leak, someone is working on it. For 20 minutes it blew right through the neighborhood next to it. Now the 'active leak' is contained to the building. But from the vids, it looked pretty bad.

Recent prophecy states U.S. is supposed to have a big nuclear accident. I hope this isn't it!

UF6 makes hydrofluoric acid when it makes contact with water. They will spray a foam usually, NOT water because of the giant mess it will make from the acid burning through everything. But the spray helps bring the plume down to the ground, which is better than have it blowing around in the environment. Will be interesting to see what it does to cars and windshields outside overnight in that community, if not further out.

There was an event in Nova Scotia I think where a crane dropped one of these barrels at a shipyard, and all hell broke loose. A glper was across the street live streaming it. A year ago? Maybe less.

March 14th in Halifax was the dropped container incident, I can't find the thread on glp I was thinking of:

Just spoke to my mom who lives on mt Mission Rd right past country club. She can smell something & heard sirens. Dad is currently is currently in chemo & other health issue effecting his immune system. Have they called for evacuations yet?

It didn’t look contained to me, It was moving across 45 towards country club rd and smelled like polish remove!! I could see them spraying water on the building to the left at the front of the plant. I was just told that UF6 reacts violently with water, does anyone know if that is true?"
