ALERT: Nuclear Accident in Illinois tonight at Honeywell plant, shelter in place

I have been juicing/blender tumeric root and lately a little ground pepper with a splash of lemon juice and base of kombucha.

sometimes I add ginger and/or garlic and/or banana and some greens.

fresh tumeric root seems to be helping back pain, inflammation and a host of other health issues.
it's brought my stamina back.

highly recommend.

Maybe the plume of the leak can be tracked by following the pitted car windshields.

A Honeywell spokesperson says there is not an active release at the plant anymore. Emergency personnel are still working to determine a specific source of the release. Peter Dalpe said the white cloudy substance many people reported seeing at the plant is spray from the water towers used to contain leaks. The mitigation towers were directed at the production facility to ensure that no material escaped the building. Daple said that is standard emergency procedure at the site. We have received multiple phone calls to the newsroom tonight over a rumor that the Honeywell plant in Metropolis is leaking uranium hexa-floride, or UF6, into the community. We have contacted the Massac County Sheriff's Office. They tell us Honeywell is releasing UF6, but it is an in-house release. The sheriff's office says no one is in any danger. Honeywell Spokesperson Peter Dalpe sent our newsroom a statement that reads, "The Metropolis facility experienced a leak of UF6 in its main production building at approximately 7:35 p.m. local time. The leak has been contained and a trained response team is currently working to ensure the leak has been stopped completely. There have been no injuries and there is no indication that any material has left the building. All plant emergency procedures were followed and safety equipment worked as designed." Dalpe also said the plant immediately notified emergency responders as per emergency procedures.

Misleading and fear-mongering title.
Honeywell plant is a chemical manufacturing plant. Not a Nuclear Power Plant. So this would be a chemical leak accident or pushing it, you could call it a radiation leak. But this is not a Nuclear accident.

Uraninum is uranium, it doesn't matter what they were intending to do with it. It'll get inside you and slowly kill you all the same.

And I also note that they must notify the NRC when they have "oopsies," you know, the completely useless Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Maybe because what they are doing is called Nuclear Reprocessing. You know, enriching uranium for use in Nuclear Fuel.

This is actually even WORSE because in addition to the nuclear component of the uranium, which is a gamma emitted and drops radon daughters all over the place, Hydrofluric acid (created when they dump water or foam on the mess) is extremely toxic and corrosive.

"Uranium hexafluoride (UF6), referred to as "hex" in the nuclear industry, is a compound used in the uranium enrichment process that produces fuel for nuclear reactors and nuclear weapons. It forms solid grey crystals at standard temperature and pressure, is highly toxic, reacts violently with water and is corrosive to most metals."

at this time of year Mother Nature is rebbing up to blow Winter in, and to do that she kicks up the normal wind current to blow like hell East, and to gather some chilling force from out of the North, as she goes. PHONE LIST FOR METROPOLIS IL/STL RESIDENTS: If you live around the Honeywell plant you should demand the local news interview residents around the plant about what they saw, heard, tasted, or smelled last night and today. The news seems to be sticking to the same lame CYA press release from last night with no new updates. Meanwhile, I have seen comments on several forums about metallic taste, nail polish smell, etc.

I'm sensing shades of WIPP. What areas of the facility are innacesible because of the leak, and what's happening in those areas due to that corrosive matterial and the fact no one can get in there.

I wouldn't be surprised if no alarm sounded indicating that there was an external release. It's entirly possible that's because they don't have any external monitors. Or that they are safe in a room somewhere.

Also Apple Pectin and/or ghee (clarified butter) in copious amounts. IF it's just the UHF then the iodine won't help. However, it certainly won't hurt, and at this point we have no idea what happened, so be smart and get the baby formula and baby food applesauce.

And have an authentic chicken tikka masala, with lots of masala.

For the next few days, at least.

Honeywell Uranium Hexafluoride Processing Facility, a uranium conversion facility, is located 3 km northwest of Metropolis, Illinois. The plant, Honeywell Specialty Chemicals in Metropolis, Illinois, has a nominal capacity of 15,000 tU uranium per year. The plant manufactures a variety of products, but about 80 percent of the plant's work involves refining raw uranium ore into uranium hexafluoride. Across the Ohio river in Paducah, Kentucky, the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, can enrich the uranium hexafluoride into various levels for nuclear power or nuclear weapon purposes.[1] ConverDyn, a general partnership between affiliates of Honeywell and General Atomics, is the exclusive agent for conversion sales from the Metropolis Works.

Your welcome. Between the Paducah plant that got hit by a tornado last year and this leaky uranium s#!thole, the people around this area are really screwed. Wonder what the sickness stats show. I'll see if I can get something from the Manganos or Beyond Nuclear.
