The saline shortage has been drying up since Baxter, Hospira and Abbot (the big 3 IV solution makers) stopped production of others to make up for it.
Now the shortage is Lactated Ringers and Normasol-R

Still never got an "official" answer as to why the NS shortage in the first place.
