The officer did exactly what he was trained to do in that type of situation. The kid should have not attacked the officer point blank. Even I was surprised when in the Guard, they use EXACTLY the same TMs(training manuals) as the regular army, same proficiency tests too. That means the Guard can and does do the same jobs as their counter-parts in the regular army, only trains 1/30 of the time. Not bad for a bunch of 'tin soldiers.'

As a fun side note, I captured a Canadian SF captain in an exercise one night. LOL, he called me a 'crazy, pistol toting red-neck.' I think that was the nicest thing anyone ever said to me. :)

They are trying to push it back to;
a) lessen the turn-out(only the truly radical will show up, thus increasing the likelihood of confrontation),
b) cause more injuries/casualties(cold related),
c) they need time to get more agent provocateurs into the area,
d) give the lame stream media more time to hype it up,
e) all of the above.
