NASA needs a calculator
Fron the NASA SOHO web site we have the following quote..

Over the past few weeks this extreme ultraviolet observing instrument on SOHO has witnessed at least four events where pieces of the Sun have blasted off into space. In most instances these are evidence of coronal mass ejections, solar eruptions that occur fairly frequently. Magnetic tensions above active regions strain and break apart, propelling solar particles into space at millions of miles per hour. The first event on June 26th appears to have been triggered by the collapse of a solar

End quote..

From wikipedia we have the the following..

Converted to imperial units, the speed of light is approximately 186,282.397 miles per second, or 670,616,629.384 miles per hour.

so the quote "propelling solar particles into space at millions of miles per hour." tends to break the laws of physics in several areas.

Can someone please buy NASA a calculator?

maybe after they buy you a brain?

what part of 670,616,629.384 (670 million) don't you understand?

Light isn't what it seems. Notice they said 'particles of solar' (radiation). Once the particles are obstructed by neutral particals of matter, it turns into 'light'. The true speed of light as common science knows it, is false.

Re: NASA needs a calculator
I should clarify, the origination of light as science teaches, is false. Once obstructed, that's in fact the new speed.

"Each CME releases up to 100 billion kg (220 billion lb) of this material, and the speed of the ejection can reach 1000 km/second (2 million mph) in some flares."

That's well under 670 million. butt

In school we were taught that solar radiation travelled at the speed of light, the light/heat/radiation took 8 minutes to reach earth at "light speed", so to have radiation travelling at only "millions of MPH " does seem a little slow?

Re: NASA needs a calculator
Well, everyone still recalls the "millimeters to inches" excuse NASA used to repair a satellite, right?

Brand new and then days after it went up NASA said we have to send up a repair crew because the parts made off shore were in millimeters and NASA used inches in their calculations...

HA< HA: HA!

Like we all believed that one???

The funny thing is that is the best excuse they could come up with...Yeah, right...

These areare rocket scientists ya know!

Re: NASA needs a calculator
Sorry Prof. In your zeal to bash Nasa, you put your foot in your mouth that time. It is particles that are ejected. Thats why we have so many hours warning after one of these events if they are headed our way. That warning time has allowed me to get up north to dark skys and see some nice Aurora a couple times.
