Nobody "causes" the Polar Vortex, it's there every winter. New spooky weather term to sell ads on TWC. Our weather here in the Northeast is right on normal, first snow end of Oct, first inch around middle of November, lasting snow Dec-Mar with a couple "January Thaws" thrown in.

Amusing to hear how people predict weather- "there's a lot of apples, gonna be a bad winter"; or "we had a good spring and summer, we're due for a bad winter".

No one predicts the polar vortex it is always there.
