GLP Guitar Players! What do you think of the Hammer Jammer?

I would like to get one of these things, looks like a lot of fun. They need a few more pre-orders before they will begin production again and start shipping. What do you guys think? Here is the link to pre-order:

That's amazing!

I'd like to see one for the Bass too, could make it a much more interesting instrument

Gotta say nope on that one too.
Here's how you play them bass strings.

Re: GLP Guitar Players! What do you think of the Hammer Jammer?
I've mixed feelings.

Firstly, it's a crutch that might prevent someone from learning the proper two handed technique.

It looks cumbersome to remove or install during a live performance unless you keep it on for the whole song.

That said, it's pretty cool, I could see using it in the studio. Sometimes it sounded like Stanley Jordan, sometimes Vai, and it made that 6 string acoustic sound like a 12 string.

But, I have a question. It seems the hammer points are fixed based upon where you attach it on the strings/neck, so you're essentially stuck with a fixed key, right? If you set it to 2 octaves above open string, that's what you're limited to, am I right?

I'd really like a Sustainiac pickup one of these days:

I agree, I would like to see one made for the bass as well. I think it would sound pretty awesome with some delay

It appears that it was attached behind the bridge on one of the electric guitars, so I'm assuming that you could play it just like you would normally play, all the way up to the last fret with normal intonation. I agree with the live situation, but you could just have it attached to a separate guitar. I don't play live so its not an issue for me.

Wow, love those pickups too.

Now If we can just kick cookie monster out of metal and get back to some normal/unique vocalists like Plant, Ozzy, Dio, Halford, just singers...stop trying to sound like Satan, Satan thinks it's silly. Satan doesn't sound like that.

Agreed, completely. Closest I ever got to the barking was Pretty Maids, LOL.

Eddie Van Halen used the Sustainiac pretty effectively on their last album. The good stuff starts at 1:45

Definitely think its a cool gadget forsure, like an ebow, but with alot more range. Im not as good on guitar as most, but if you practice enough, you won't need this gadget.

And you can just play that good,

I think it has its own sound and its own place in music, it sounds alot more like a piano than finger tapping imho. Its something I would like to use for studio work rather than playing live. Plus another reason its good for me is I have a day job and other hobbies and don't have time to devote my life to becoming a finger tapping virtuoso musician. Again, thats just my opinion.

Playing and making music isn't a test, so how can it be "cheating"?afro

Thanks, I knew I was going to get those comments. "Man, if you were Steve Vai or Jimi Hendrix you wouldn't need one those"

But not all of us want to be Steve Vai or Jimi Hendrix, fuck that

Just out of curiosity, this is a sample of brazilian hillbilly music. The instrument is a kind of a modified acoustic guitar with 10 strings:
