The third Ebola patient to be treated in Omaha has been identified as 44-year-old Dr. Martin Salia, a surgeon and citizen of Sierra Leone and legal resident of the U.S. who lives in Maryland. He is expected to land in Omaha Saturday afternoon.

Nebraska Medicine has again activated the Biocontainment Unit. A release from the hospital was sent out this morning announcing that the patient left Sierra Leona around 10:30 last night, and will arrive in Omaha around 2:00 p.m. Dr. Salia tested positive for Ebola last Monday.

The medical crew flying with Dr. Salia evaluated him in Sierra Leone and determined that his condition was stable enough for him to make the flight.

We're told the patient's exact condition isn't available yet, but information doctors have received so far indicate that he is critically ill. He may be more ill than the previous patients treated in the United States.
