Myth.

Notice it was, and still is, the paranoid, cowardly, well-off who seek to kill off the boogeyman -- the poor.

Notice how one who wants to depopulate the planet says we must do so or lots of people will die. Dead is dead.

Notice how global warming has been been used as the boogeyman, and all the poor folks who barely use energy compared to the well-off, must die to stop it.

Notice how "global cooling" was changed to "global warming", and "global warming" was changed to "climate change" and science says there has always been climate change when the earth cools in an ice age, then warms up, then cools in another ice age, then warms up.

Notice in National Security and the Accelerating Risks of Climate Change(Alexandria, VA: CNA Corporation, 2014)(free pdf online)how it is a potential loss of money, power and control that is at the root of the paranoia of the rulers/masters/wealthy and their "most senior military leaders". ("...it will also test the security of nations with robust capability, including significant elements of our National Power here at home" and "It identifies threats to elements of National Power here at home, particularly those associated with our infrastructure and our ability to
maintain military readiness" and "...the projected effects of climate change '... are threat multipliers that will aggravate stressors abroad such as poverty, environmental degradation, political instability, and social tensions")

Notice how large the reptiles grew when global warming made the earth lush and green, with a food surplus, because plants use carbon dioxide like we use oxygen -- it's a symbiotic relationship between us.

Notice how it's a symbiotic relationship between the wealthy and us also, where we do all the work yet we get the extremely short end of the stick. They don't want us to get more, they want us to get less, and they call it sustainability, and austerity.

I say F*** em!
