Any responsible, somewhat intelligent parent would never let their child play with a toy gun. They shouldn't be banned, no need, don't purchase them and they'll stop making them. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24535335 lol wow. You know, the idiocy of people never ceases to amaze me. “People have only as much liberty as they have the intelligence to want and the courage to take.” - Emma Goldman |

BRIEF User ID: 58550136 United States 11/24/2014 02:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I played with toy guns and even real ones as a kid, and my own children have played with toy guns when they were kids...I'm sure my Dad did too, and I know for a fact that when he was about 12 he bought a .22 single shot rifle that he would take to the town dump and shoot rats, LOL My point is, none of us ever got shot by the cops...so why is that? Maybe it's because we never aimed a gun at them? I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24535335 I can honestly say that I have NOT been involved in any gun fight since the 1950s, yet you imply that my parents were irresponsible to allow me to have guns of any type. It's obvious that you're of a younger generation already brainwashed by your lawless government. You'll lay down rather than stand your ground in any situation at this point. Not your fault though. I submit your parents were irresponsible in NOT promoting you to question those claiming authority over you. Good little sheep. |
SpaceCommand User ID: 59421510 United States 11/24/2014 02:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Back in the 1950s there was no problem with toy guns. "With an eye made quiet by the power of harmony and the deep power of joy, we see into the life of things." William Wordsworth And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe—the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God. John F. Kennedy Inaugural Address Lincoln's economic advisor Henry C. Carey explained the universal issue in his 1851 Harmony of Interests: "Two systems are before the world.... One looks to pauperism, ignorance, depopulation, and barbarism; the other to increasing wealth, comfort, intelligence, combination of action, and civilization. One looks towards universal war; the other towards universal peace. One is the English system; the other ... the American system, for ... elevating while equalizing the condition of man throughout the world." "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." - Albert Einstein |

freethinkingguy User ID: 65241741 United States 11/24/2014 02:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No!...Cops need to be retrained in how to apprehend, not kill because they think they could be or maybe or might be in a life threating situation. No more killer cops (like Officer Seven Shot Wilson). At this point Cops seem to be kill more innocent folks than real bad guys. Take there guns away. |
Brimful of Asha User ID: 1564171 United States 11/24/2014 02:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No. Quoting: Sledster PARENTS are responsible for their kids. Why was a 12 year old allowed to have a BB Pistol unsupervised in the first place? It is the PARENTS fault that their kid is dead, not the cops who shot him. Regardless of the parents' role in this.... A sane adult authority figure in service to the public, would have handled the situation differently. The drugged up cops today don't think and only re-act, much like little 12 year old boys. |

Seems to me, an officer directs you verbally with weapon trained on you. You obey slowly and let the lawyers deal with it. You certainly don't pull your Airsoft gun out. Dumb. KonspiracyKitty User ID: 23688748 United States 11/24/2014 02:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The object the child was wielding wasn't a toy. It was a replica 1911 BB gun. BB guns are not toys. You generally have to be over 18 to purchase them and many of the laws that govern firearms also apply to BB guns. The picture of the BB gun is in the link below. It looks very real. [link to www.washingtonpost.com] Is there a problem with police using lethal force in an unjustified manner in this country? Absolutely. But it does not help your case to dishonestly claim the child was carrying a toy, which implies some plastic orange tipped object that doesn't look like a real firearm, nor have the ability to kill things like birds, rats, and cats and seriously injure other creatures.
