Police in Sweden raid PiratetBay today, seizing servers/computers/equipment. UPDATE: Back up already!
Police in Sweden carried out a raid in Stockholm today, seizing servers, computers, and other equipment. At the same time The Pirate Bay and several other torrent-related sites disappeared offline. Although no official statement has been made, TF sources confirm action against TPB.

For many years The Pirate Bay has been sailing by the seat of its pants so any downtime is met with concern from its millions of users.

This morning, for the first time in months, The Pirate Bay disappeared offline. A number of concerned users emailed TF for information but at that point technical issues seemed the most likely culprit.

However, over in Sweden authorities have just confirmed that local police carried out a raid in Stockholm this morning as part of an operation to protect intellectual property.

The Pirate Bay is offline after Swedish police seize servers

You might have noticed that The Pirate Bay is offline today; the site has disappeared after Swedish Police reportedly raided premises in Stockholm containing the service’s servers.

According to Torrentfreak, Swedish authorities confirmed that local police completed a raid in Stockholm this morning. Paul Inter, police national coordinator for IP enforcement said “There has been a crackdown on a server room in Greater Stockholm. This is in connection with violations of copyright law.”

Fredrik Ingblad, an expert file-sharing case prosecutor said that “There were a number of police officers and digital forensics experts there.

They are willing to destroy the value of any wealth you may have saved over the years to support their insane deficit spending, bigger salaries, more interns to molest and bigger pensions, not to mention million dollar hotel parties.

I honestly think they would rather kill you over downloading digital data than allow you to use a money that doesn't depreciate over time.

So weird.

Its been back up for a while now but sucks complete ass so I don't use it. They'll probably be taking kickass down soon too but I'm sure tpb will be back up soon. It's not the first time it's been shut down

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

I'd like to go quietly in my sleep, like grandpa did. Not screaming in terror like the people in the back seat of the car he was driving.

A United States federal court has permanently shut down [link to isohunt.com] because it was in violation of copyright law. If you are looking for your favorite movies or TV shows online, there are more ways than ever today to get high quality access to them on legal platforms.

R.I.P freedom of internet :(
 Quoting: rezony 65912141

Freedom does not mean getting things for free, you human leech.

Imagine this. Instead of being a useless piece of human trash, you decide to create something of value. You many hours and invest money into creating this thing.

Now you want to share it with the rest of mankind and you would also like to be rewarded for your effort and expenses in creating this thing.

But then your realize that only one person bought your thing, and just made thousands of copies and gave them out for free. Would you be saying "gee, I'm glad the internet is so free" ?

Probably not. But you have probably never created anything of value.
