So here's the thing I don't get.

The plasma that flies off of the sun and travels through space moves near the speed of light. There is no way in heck that Voyager 1 is moving anywhere NEAR the speed of light. In fact, I Googled it. It's moving at 11 miles per second.

The speed of light is roughly 186,000 miles per second.

Pluto at it's furthest orbit is 4,583,190,000 miles.

IF these waves were coming from the sun we would already be aware of them and Voyager 1 would not run into them, they would overcome Voyager 1.

Assuming these plasma waves are moving at the speed of light, or more precisely, here's an article that clearly indicates that plasma waves travel at 3 million MPH from space.com.

It would take them around 1527.73 hours to reach beyond Pluto's orbit. That's just under 64 days. So......adjusting for the additional traveling Voyager 1 has done, we're talking about waves the sun pushed out 3 months ago?

I'd think we'd remember a coronal mass ejection that lasted the better part of a year. Also, if Voyager 1 is moving at 11 miles per second that's something like 39600 mph; how is it getting caught up in a several month long wave that SHOULD be moving so much faster then it?

Even accounting for entropy I can't figure out how these waves could possibly be coming from our sun.

If these are plasma bands (stationary) they would have to be MASSIVE. If they are moving AT ALL they would have to be INSANELY IMMENSE. 39600 mph, for several months, 24 hours a day......ALLOWING for the unknown speed of the wave -- whether it is coming from our sun or from outside our solar system....

You'd be talking about a wave that would take the Earth YEARS to pass through -- assuming they aren't more or less stationary in relation to our solar system.
