I must admit that although i am aquinted with most theories about mythology / cosmology and the origins of divinity on civilization, i have not red before the "Vela" Scenario.
What you might find extremly interesting, is that probably the oldest megalithic structure that we know of, build in 9500 bc (the date it is believed the Vela supernova collapse was finally visible to earth), Gobekli tepe, in its one of its major T shaped columns (Ankh?), pictures this phenomenon in great detail:

You can see the 3 remnant stars in the top, above the scorpion sing, two vulture-like figures (they have been identified as certain constellations) and in the middle of them an "unexplained" circle shaped object, the supernova, and waves radiating from it towards the stars on the top...

I'm going to look into "Gobekli tepe" further for anything I can find that might fit in with this Vela Nova topic.
You might find this artifact to be very interesting.
If you put into context this artifact actually being an effort by the Pharoah Tutankhamun trying to bring a warning forward to future generations concerning the info about the Vela Supernova (and it's continuing affect on the earth as it has a 13,000 year cycle with our movement around the Milky Way)--It's obvious to me the carving is extremely descriptive.

I was just revisiting this older thread today just
to review it--and I realized that I had posted this
image of the King Tut Brooch,
but had NOT yet found the
AMAZING link to this ancient artifact and a symbol found
at Gobekli Tepe called the "Argha Noa." I have been doing
quite a great deal of research to find a "universal"
ancient symbol which would have heralded the Vela supernova
for future generations--at this point in 2014 I had not
yet discovered this link between ancient Egypt and the
12,000 year old Gobekli Tepe pillar which shows very
clearly the symbol Egyptians called the "Argha Noa."
You can see the crescent shape with the circle above it
just as it is seen on the King Tut Brooch:
Carbon-dated to 12,000 years ago right in the
"window" of time for the Vela Supernova event,
the universal symbol for global cataclysm, the
Argha Noa can be seen clearly carved on this
pillar preserved by deliberately being buried
prior to the event at Gobekli Tepe in Turkey
(2003.)
This is the ancient Egyptian version of the Argha
Noa symbol, at the likeness is unmistakeable.
This ancient symbol of "catastrophe" from the
ancient Egyptian artifacts can be clearly seen
as a "carved MESSAGE" FROM KING TUTANKAMUN at
the very top of the King Tut Brooch (see the
first image in this post above.)
Taking this even further to LINK IT WITH SOMETHING
FROM SPACE is this strange "impact signature" photographed
in the atmosphere of JUPITER IN THE 1990'S from the
impact of Comet Shumacker-Levy 9...This can't be a
"coincidence."
"Impact SIGNATURE" in the Jupiter atmosphere
following comet impact Shumaker-Levy 9. A dead-
ringer for the Argha Noa and LINKS THIS SYMBOL
TO CATASTROPHIC IMPACTS FROM SPACE. IMHO his symbol
has been deliberately been suppressed by TPTB to hide
