Well, that's what I was hoping.

It does not help to fight the flow.
You will just get angry.
Try to go with it.
There is still a lot that can be learned from this site.

True, but there are older threads as well.
I think we are in a phase where we are having to recycle some of the old data.

Topics that were good once, probably still are, but for whatever reason threads stop.

The search function is your friend here.
Or just start a thread on something you like.
The people who are like you will come.

Thanks for explaining.

Are all the threads searchable from the beginning of this website?

Or do they get taken off the web and stored in an archive every so many months or years?

Oh. I was not really explaining to you, I was just talking. I replied to what you had said, but removed it because I saw that you edited your reply.

This site is setup like a calendar.
All the data is there.
You can scroll back to the beginning of the data by day, or search. There is even advanced search.

That does not mean that all of the data has made it for the 10+ years of this site, but it is mostly there (from what I know).

Re: If IQ is considered upon conversational engagement...
I've been told that I'm smart my entire life since I was a kid.

I've made teachers do double takes and say I am insightful and the smartest person in the class.

According to Kohlberg's stages of morality I am postconventional, or stage 6, which few people ever get to.

So I assume my IQ is probably higher than average. In arguments I seem to be able to look at social norms objectively while others aren't able to do this. I gauge other people's IQs by whether they have this ability.

I've also read that people with higher than average IQs have a difficult time having conversations with people below their IQ because they see the world in a different way. They bring old thoughts to the table while I see their thoughts as lacking in perspectives of objectivity. They are stuck on social norms rather than truths.

As much as I'd like to beleive Im just average, since I don't know physics and haven't gotten a PHd in math, I think I do have a higher IQ, because I can't relate to most people because they always seem a few steps behind me in analysis in every day conversations.

Re: If IQ is considered upon conversational engagement...
^^you don't need a high IQ to get things done.

You do need a high IQ to have an evolved sense of justice and freedom. Those concepts are the structure of society. The insulation of the structure is the common sense folk you speak of who make society function through ingenuity and action.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 52692843

It's been a while since I've taken an IQ test, and from what I remember IQ tests are quite lifeless and mechanical; so how does a high IQ suggest an evolved sense of justice and freedom?

Now I'm not denying the usefulness of mechanical thinking altogether. I just don't see how it alone indicates an evolved sense of justice and freedom.

It seems to me that intelligent people will tend to not have a very low IQ; and at the same time people with a high IQ are certainly not always intelligent.

Oh I see. Well thanks for explaining this time (I can see how last time you were just talking more than giving an explanation).

And thank you for deleting what you'd quoted of my post that I'd deleted. Most won't do that unless you request it, and even then they won't delete it half the time.
