IQ does not invent things, common sense does. There are people who have high IQ but are as dumb as dirt, went it comes to the small stuff that is very important in inventing things.

They question everything instead of doing it, by trail and error things get done.

This is not even a joke, you can be brilliant, in some things, but others, move over and let a person with common sense take over, you will mess it up.

Kind of like a one track mind, you have to see all the angles in your mind as you are building the invention. That is common sense. I take that person any day, as a doctor, lawyer, or any professional person, that one with just high IQ.

There are the rare ones with both which is grant they know from their common sense it take more than a high IQ to get something done.

By the way you can build up your common sense even with a high IQ, if you come down where you need to be, getting your hands dirty and learning.
