I think there is a special evil in that area. The Book of Daniel in the Bible says that that particular area is ruled by the Prince of Persia, who is so difficult to battle, that the Arch Angel Michael had a tough time getting through to visit Daniel.

I think geographical areas can be evil, and places in Iraq have had a very bad affect on people.
