I had a freak accident in 2008! I was getting up into my husband's lifted truck, when I slipped and fell. I came down on the curb. Basically curb stomped my ankle & it shattered. Crazy freak accident. I was a Bar Manager at the time & lost my job, because I was unable to be there due to my injury. Too many surgeries, it has been a long six years!! Thank you for asking. And thank you everyone for your support! I also want to let everyone know ... Keep the support & comments coming, it REALLY helps to keep my mind busy and help me not focus on all the nerve & phantom pain! {{{HUGS}}}

I still feel the pain even on all these meds. The phantoms are the worst!! Before my ampution I was on a high dose of Gabapentin which honestly didn't so a thing for me, but I really didn't have nerve pain then. My pain clinic doctor insisted that I take it along with my pain meds. I don't think Lyrica is as effective as Neurontin for actual nerve pain....maybe try it again. Also re: pain....the stuff you are on is probably knocking you out and there are pain patches which might work out for you better....less side-effects....like fentenyl...the new kind which are not dangerous, and then I think there is another one called butrans. I am sorry to hear about your amputation, it does sound like you are blessed with a supportive husband and family and that is a blessing some people don't have. Someone who doesn't truly love you would be resentful and not supportive through all that has happened to you. I know of men like that who turned into ex-husbands bc they were not a for better or worse type of man. I'm glad you have support!
