You don't carry a gun with a gun lock.

Getting raped/robbed/attacked......Hold on one second I need to find the key to unlock my gun.

Since she had it in her purse, the idiot shouldn't have left the purse anywhere. With kids around it should have constantly been on her shoulder/arm whatever.

What the fuck? How the hell has two year old been able to get their hands on a firearm in a supermarket?

Yeah, this was right over the mountain from me.

I'm all for gun rights but it gets really old seeing these babies killing other babies and/or kids and/or their family members or friends.

There's not a reason on the planet a 2 year old should have access to a loaded weapon.

Period.

This baby will carry this trauma for the rest of its life.

And why?

Because mommy couldn't be responsible with her weapon.

It's happening too much.

People get too comfortable and complacent with their firearms, forget they are weapons first and foremost and handle them irresponsibly.

This was a tragedy, but it definitely could have been prevented with ease.

I know :( the baby will grow up knowing the reason its mom isnt here is because he killed her :( And the siblings will hold that for the rest of their lives also :( Its all just so sad :(

And worse is that it could have been avoided easily :(

Why in the HELL would you leave that in a purse where a 2 year old can find it?
...and if you know it's in the purse, why are you not paying FULL ATTENTION to anyone near that purse.

Stupid.
Didn't have to happen.

You just KNOW this story is going to be used to play on the emotions of liberals who will scream and cry anti-gun propaganda.

The story is sad, yes. but it will just add more fuel to the fire for the anti-gun libs.

So what, should it not be reported on because it doesn't support YOUR agenda??

And you bitch about Obama controlling the media - apparently your only REAL complaint is that it's not being slanted in YOUR direction.

Hopefully, this story will serve as a wake-up call for others who may habitually or even occasionally get careless with their firearms.

Exactly.. They will use this as a prime reason for the general public to not have access to guns.

The dumb ones should not be a reflect on the ones who carry responsibly..

I never put my purse down when Im out, and I dont even carry a gun in it. It has my wallet and stuff in it so I dont leave it sitting in the cart where my kids or any other person can grab it..

Not necessarily.

I am a CHL and have been trained to disengage the safety with my thumb while gripping my gun - it's almost instantaneous. In the instances my safety is already off, the way I've been trained, it doesn't matter, my thumb just slides down across the switch anyway. I've trained with both hands and with several of our handguns. Now not all guns have the same safety buy all my self defense ones do...

I keep the safety on when I purse carry - I don't like the obvious bulge of the body carry.

If I body carry I go for the bersa (with no safety and one in chamber) because of its small size but it's just a 380. Not a great self defense choice imho. I prefer 9 mm or 40...

Edit: oops read it as safety not gun lock. I agree gun lock is stupid...

I agree. If you're going to purse carry, the purse needs to stay on your body or in your full sight and control. In Texas, mom would have been breaking the law to not have it as such. Doesn't make it ant less sad, but if you're going to carry, you must do so responsibly.

There are plenty of reasons to call the USA a sick country, but I wouldn't say this is one of them. This is just one story of an idiot who let her child get their hands on a handgun. Great job making a generalization of about 300 million people. At least in America we can have a gun. Tell the Queen I say hi.
