Kid Konjecture? 2016: the year of drones and God returning...

No - although the future is a pre-determined single line no one has special insight into it..
The future is not predetermined AT ALL... Predictions are mere good guesses based on observation.
There are a select few future possibilities and some can access some of those possibilities...
I believe in alternate timelines - our lives being lived out differently on several planes simultaneasously
Who the hell cares - I have enough trouble with the present.

so the weirdest thing happened to me today...

I'm working the overnight shift in the ER and it's very early... I come into to check on a patient who's husband and young child (maybe 4) were there with her since about midnight. Being the last week of the year the beds are stacked with electives and she had to stay overnight while we waited on a bed upstairs. She is very sick.

Unfortunately, I had to wake the patient up to check on her and we were talking but trying to keep quiet. She asked what day it was - or maybe what time - I forget. Anyway, trying to be friendly and light given her situation, I mentioned to her with a smile just one more day until the new year. Her son - who apparently had woken up some but still half asleep - asked when it would be 2016. I laughed and answered not for another whole year and a day...

He answered me back - at this point very alert and serious - "good then there is still time to be happy."

Even given his mom's condition, I thought this was a very strange answer (it was apparent they were trying to keep the details of mom's illness vague with him) so I laughed and asked what he meant. He said "2016 is when the drones come - they will look like birds and bees but they will kill people and light things on fire. After that the Joshua comes back and he will not be happy."

Thinking this kid was just a fantasy/imaginative kid I didn't take him too seriously and was more being amused than concerned. I asked who Joshua was - thinking older brother, uncle etc... The kid said "Joshua is God - I talk to him when I sleep." Then get this - the Mom says to the kid to stop talking about Joshua - explaining to me that Joshua is his imaginary friend. The kid didn't like this - saying that he is a real and true friend. He said that "they can be friends because he will come back before I grow up so Joshua is allowed to talk to me but not my parents." Super crazy - this kid was intense.

The mother got very angry and told him to stop making up stories. She was very shaken and upset by this - her vitals actually confirmed she was definitely disturbed. I answered her to not stress - that we hear lots of stories in the ER and it's just probably something he heard in church or on TV. She said they don't go to church and don't own a TV. They don't have many people outside of the parents who spend much time with the child and he says this kind of thing all the time.

What really seemed to upset her the most is that her son had been telling her for a year - long before she got sick - that Joshua told him that Mommy would be getting sick and that he needed to let Mommy know about God and heaven before it was too late. What's weird is that this talk freaked the mom out enough to have weight loss surgery (she was over 300 pounds this time last year) but she is having serious complications - gravely serious. In just 6 months she has lost well over half her body weight and is severely malnutritioned. I'm not a doctor but I'd be surprised if she makes it.

I checked on her intake form and she marked no religious affiliation - atheist. I did suggest to her we had hospital chaplains available if she wanted to talk to someone or have someone talk to her child but neither parent was interested.

My shift was over soon, but even if it wasn't, it would have been wrong for me to interact more on the matter so I didn't. I did smile warmly and tell the boy we needed to take care of Mommy today and there would be other times we could talk more. The family was friendly and sweet but my heart breaks for them all because life is very tough and about to get tougher. It would appear they don't have a big support system.


THEN THIS IS WHERE THE STORY GETS SUPER WEIRD...

I get home around lunchtime and my hubs and kids are at the kitchen table. I started telling my husband about the weird incident and my 6 year old interrupts before I got the whole story out and asked about the drones. He asked if he was talking about the ones that look like bugs and birds... WHHAAAATTT??? I had not described what the boy said yet. Just said drones. He says he sees them in his dreams all the time and they light things on fire and kill people. He said the world is really dark - like nighttime all the time when they come. He said the military send them but there is also soldiers who rescue people so it's okay. He said the only safe place is in the mountain where the drones crash - that not even the ocean is safe.

I have never heard this from him before. But he also didn't seem to be freaked out by it - more fascinated some other kid seemed to know the same thing.

Now full disclosure - we go to church and as a family we are definitely believers in Christ coming again - but we aren't obsessed with it to the point our young child has any real knowledge of it. I seriously doubt he heard anything like this at church and we keep a pretty tight reign on the TV, at least being there when it's on.

It's just fascinating that two kids from totally different worlds and families are talking about the same dreams. And weirder yet neither seems to be that bothered by it. To me that sounds like a nightmare but my son doesn't have trouble sleeping and has never spoken about it before. He has slenderman nightmares - unfortunately thanks to teenage siblings - :o( and a few unfortunate youtube videos - but not any that are about this...

Anyway, just wondering for those of you who have young kids in your lives, do you ever hear weird things about bird and bee drones?

And of course, just a poll question to make it interesting...
