Death of mentally ill Cleveland woman in police restraint ruled homicide
The death of a mentally ill woman being held in Cleveland police custody has been ruled a homicide, according to a medical examiner’s report released Friday.

Tanisha Anderson, 37, died on Nov 13 after police officers put her in a “prone” position and the physical restraint played a role in her death, according the Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s report. A heart condition and bipolar disorder were also cited as contributing factors to her demise.

Anderson’s family has called for criminal charges against the officers involved in her death. The Cleveland Police Department, meanwhile, has placed the officers on restricted duty, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

We had a diabetic woman here in this county that was snitching on meth cooks, she ended up in the county jail on a psychiatric hold (not charged with a crime), and died after being denied insulin.

The cause of death was murder in my opinion. They knew she was diabetic. The Texas Rangers investigated but apparently it was swept under the rug

a better understanding of legal terms...

homicide is not synonymous with murder in the legal sense. it's merely stating the person died because of another person. situations like this legally have to be cited as a homicide, but usually are called justified or excusable homicide.

the victims position and physical restraint killed her, but it will ultimately be ruled as a justifiable act (although I don't agree)... because restraining her was justifiable action because of however she was acting.

I don't agree with it, because whether it was justifiable or not should be argued in court. but cops usually just get the benefit of the doubt.

this is exactly what happened with Eric Garner.

I wonder how big she was ? Larger people can't remain in a prone position for long... it hinders their breathing. I think that was part of Gardner's problem, also.

So now, a lot because of the internet and camera phones, we know the hard, sad truth... most cops are just criminals with badges. It has always been so. The good ones are often hounded out or killed because they won't play the game. As the world becomes more and more populated, more and more control will be exerted. People will be shot for jaywalking. Human life becomes devalued when there are too many.

NO. This is not about revenge. It is ridiculous, primitive and just plain stupid to advise killing cops in retaliation. Peaceful demonstration by THOUSANDS of people. Checking and getting EVERY cop fired from the force who kills someone unnecessarily. Publicizing the ones with several offenses. Using social media to out them and shame them. That is how it should be handled. What if someone murders one of the good ones? In any case, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

itis beginning to look to me as if this isnot "brutality" but the "police" taking upon themselves to rid society of defective citizens.

Soooooooo, ok, all the police, in order to be hired, have to test out to be “sadistic psychopaths“, so now itis, on their terms, for them to be eliminated, when ever anyone feels the urge to do a good thing for society, because there is nothing worse, running loose among society, but the sickest monsters on earth, which are "sadistic psychopaths". Right?-or ami wrong?

Perhaps you misunderstood my post.
Nowhere have I ever advocated or "advised" people to become violent by "killing cops".
I do, however, prefer when peoples opinions don't straddle both sides of the fence as to seem to be on the correct side of a two sided issue.
That, to me is simply hypocritical.
That was my point.

This happened to me once in Ohio over a misdemeanor traffic ticket that was ultimately thrown out. 3 days in jail (picked up on a Friday but there was no judge til Monday so I had to wait for a bail hearing). I'm insulin dependent. They refused to give me insulin without an approved doctor's order. Good luck with that. The first 36 hours were absolute hell. I slipped in and out of a coma for the last 36 hours of my ordeal. It begins with thirst. Like you're literally dying of thirst. No amount of water helps. Then your chest starts burning and your heart starts racing. Your eyes are so blurry you can't see anything. You can't breathe. Then what little water you can get down comes right back up. You vomit until there's nothing left to vomit and then you barf some more. Then you start having convulsions and losing consciousness. I called 911 from the payphone in the cell. Other inmates called 911 on my behalf. My family called the news stations (who didn't care), they begged my doctor to help (nothing he could do), they begged the jail (they laughed and told my mother that if I didn't like it I shouldn't break the law - seriously) - no one could help me. I was barfing my guts out, convulsing, sweating and crying a lot near the end. Never been so sure I was going to die. Death actually would have been a blessing.

While I was having a fit at one point the guards thought I was detoxing from something. They had no clue I was there because of a bullshit fine, cared not that I was diabetic and were treating me like I was an animal. I got my ass beat. I remember one of the guards telling me to stop making a fist. I was having a goddamned convulsion - I had no idea what the fuck was happening. 2 guards, twice my size, beat the ever living shit out of me until apparently my hand relaxed enough they felt safe. They put you in these large holding room with like 30 guys - then they leave you there for 8 hours at a time unsupervised. Guys were banging on the door trying to get the guards to take me out because it was clear I was in a lot of trouble (turned out some of those dudes were fucking saints God bless them). The guards just ignored them. For 8 hours.

Somehow I survived. When it was over and I tried to sue - mostly to try and make sure this never happened to anyone ever again - they have a preliminary hearing with a special prosecutor. Turns out (at the time) you had to have permission from the state to sue the state. Really Ohio? Needless to say they didn't allow my case to move forward.

I can't imagine how many diabetics must die like this. It's worse than drowning, burning and being buried alive combined. I've avoided cops like the plague ever since. There are no absolutes in life but there is one thing I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt - they will never, ever, ever, never, ever, never put handcuffs on me again. I'd rather be shot in the street than endure that a second time.

The damage done to my body from those 3+ days was incalculable. Easily took 20 years off the end of my life. Those people are monsters. All of them. Pleading for help, they just looked at me with a big 'fuck you' grin. Never seen anyone so devoid of humanity in all my life. They were absolutely, 100%, enjoying watching me suffer.

Anyway, moral is; if you live in Ohio and you're a diabetic, stay the fuck out of the legal system by any means necessary. I can't imagine a fate worse than dying in a jail deprived of insulin.
