Does it happen when you run water down the drains? I ask because in my mansion, yes, mansion...lol when I run water in the kitchen and my bathroom, I get serious tapping sounds from the drain lines about four to six feet from the sinks. Strange it is...... Even my plumber is like  That's from expansion where there is a hole drilled and the pipe goes through. The pipe expands and get that sound. I've been in the trade all my life.
