Dreamed of cataclysmic Volcanic event in Iceland - ALL of Iceland destroyed in colossal explosion!!

So I do not normally do this…

I do not normally go for this ‘dream stuff’ and typical write it off as B.S.

For that matter, I rarely ever remember very much about my own dreams.

Two nights ago however, I had a dream that was so vivid and real that it left me quite disturbed throughout the day as I was still able to recall ever little detail as though I were actually there watching the event for real.

What disturbs me all the more is, today, a day later, I can still remember it all, and it still disturbs me.

The dream is this.

My girlfriend and I were vacationing in Iceland, why and for what reason I have no idea. Why we chose Iceland, is beyond me. If it were my choice and the expense were available I would have chosen to tour the UK or perhaps New Zealand.

But for whatever reason, my dream placed us in Iceland.

We were out walking on a glacier and we were walking on what seemed to be a well worn road or trail along the glacier; and someone with us commented that what we were walking on was what remained of some ancient lava flow from Grimsvotn.

My girlfriend thought it was neat, and wanted to see more.

Suddenly we’re in a helicopter flying over what appears to be an alpine’esque mountain region, lots of snow, ice and trees. We’re flying over a giant caldera at the top of some mountain, it’s perfectly circular. All the ice covering it is gone, but there is still a lot of snow and ice surrounding it, but inside it is a steaming pool of viscous yellow/orange lava sloshing about… I think it is odd that this caldera as formed within the cone peak of a mountain in the middle of a very alpine like mountain range, because all of Icelands volcanoes are under giant glaciers of ice.

Our pilot becomes upset at seeing this caldera though…

A short distance past this caldera, we fly over what appears to a giant metal cauldron; its nearly the same diameter as the caldera, and it too is filled with the same sort of lava. Its seems though it is ready for some to just kick it over and spill all the lava down a mountain side.

Our pilot is now very upset, becoming very anxious and visibly agitated and insists that we absolutely must return to base at once and land immediately because something terrible was about to happen.

Now, we’re in a car…

I think it is some sort of old model Range Rover; not very fancy but obviously built and designed for very rugged terrain, which we are currently driving over. We’re driving down an old mountain road covered with snow and ice, approaching our hotel.

We come around a corner and there at the bottom of the hill the road is coming down, is our hotel.

Its built up against a mountain side that is covered in trees and snow.

Its on fire!

The mountainside behind it is imploding, collapsing inward upon itself, sending up what appears to be a huge pyroclastic cloud all around the hotel; but other then for the fire, our Hotel has not been effected by this collapsing mountainside.

We’re standing out in the parking lot with all the other guests, watching the hotel burn, people are upset. Someone says lava is coming from the mountain behind the hotel and is flowing into the hotel from its rear, causing the fire.

A man next to me wails, because he left his dog in his room.

My girlfriend is panicking, she wants to run inside and grab out things. People start arguing about trying to save the dog.

Someone then says Grimsvotn is erupting, and everyone has to flee.

My girlfriend still wants to go inside the hotel and get our things, and rescue the dog; but I tell her we have to run.

Now we’re on an airplane.

It is not a commercial airliner, but feels more like a small private plane with a propeller engine on each wing. I am not sure where we are going, I just know we fell safe that we’re escaping Iceland.

We look out the window at the ash plume raising up from Grimsvotn in the distance and watch as Iceland slowly recedes.

Then suddenly, there is a massive explosion.

Absolutely, colossal explosion, erupting from somewhere in the center of Iceland. From our perspective it appeared as though the entire island was suddenly just exploding. I start to see massive swaths of land collapse or sink into the ocean. An colossal column of ash is rising up from there center of the cataclysmic event, and stretching up higher then we can see.

The sky immediately went very dark…

Now we’re at home watching the news, they’re talking about “The Iceland Cataclysm” and how it started as a mild VEI 6 event from Grimsvotn, but then quickly escalated into a catastrophic VEI 8 event erupting from a hotspot plume beneath Iceland that “researchers never fully understood, and were never able to pinpoint its precise depth”…

As a result, much of central Iceland collapsed into the ocean, filling in the now emptied magma chamber beneath it, leaving Iceland now resembling some sort of horseshoe shape with a giant bay of water in its center filling a caldera that measured roughly 50 miles by 75 miles in diameter…

The news broadcaster kept crying about how this cataclysmic event is going to dramatically change the fate and course of all humankind, and that many people may not survive the years to come…

Then I woke up.

I’ve never in my life dreamed about a volcano eruption until now and that stark vivid detail and realism of the dream still has me quite disturbed.
